Carennac, one of the most beautiful villages of France, is situated on the Dordogne River with houses from the Renaissance and Loubressac. Take a drive from Saint-Cirq-Lapopie through Bouziès to Arcambal. Interesting is also Capdenac-le-Haut, the seat of Julius Caesar during his last battle against the Gauls. During the summer Saint-Cere and Assier are dominated by music festivals.
Nature around your gite in the Lot
Your holiday home is close to the regional park Causse du Quercy: it covers almost one third of Lot. You can go hiking, biking and horse riding through the plains and grasslands with oaks and many species of orchids. Make sure also to take rides through the woods and hills of the Ségala areas, Quercy blanc and Bouriane, for example in Vayrac and Limogne-en-Quercy. Along the way you will see old mills and dovecotes, for instance at Autoire between Figeac and Gramat. Or walk part of Le Puy, the most popular pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.

Go back in time with the old railway Chemin de Fer du Haut Quercy through the Dordogne valley or visit the zoo Ecoparc du Rocher des Aigles with 400 birds and the Forêt des singes 130 baboons. You will also find rivers near your holiday home in Lot. So you could go canoeing, kayaking and fishing on the Vert, Dordogne, Vers and Célé. Cahors and Saint Cirq Lapopie are starting points for boat trips on the Lot.

Why not use local product when you prepare dinner in your holiday home : truffles (including the black truffle from Lalbenque), melon and saffron. Taste the stuffed cabbage (chou farci) and the lamb dish Daube d’agneau with a glass of Cahors. Followed by the blue cheese Bleu des Causses or goat cheese Cabécou from Rocamadour and dessert with apple ‘pescajoune’.
