The southern part of the French coast on the Atlantic ocean has a lenght of 250 kilometers where you will find the most beautiful sandy beaches of Europe; the beach paradise. Biarritz to Verdon sur Mer has that particular maritime atmosphere, the wind, the sand, the sun and the sea. From the French Bask country in the south through Les Landes to the Medoc. You will find Europe's highest dune "Dune of Pilat", the basin Arcachon with its oyster cultures, the largest pine forests of Europe and numerous inland lakes with many water sports.
Further north there are the coasts of the Poitou-Charente, Pays de la Loire and Brittany very different in character. Here you find gravel beaches and rocky coastlines, spectacular granite formations, charming fishing villages and islands and forts along the coast. In Brittany you find the start of the channel and eventually the North Sea. The Normandy Beaches with their history, the archetypal French image of Mont Saint Michel, and again more to the north the white cliffs and the typical French port towns like Honfleur, and even further up north Dunkirk.
