The house

  • Quiet, built-up area with some traffic

Small, stone cottage in traditional French village. The perfect bolt hole for walkers, windsurfers, hang gliders etc and anyone looking for something a little more comfortable than a tent. Small, but well equipped with everything required to make your stay an enjoyable one, including outside space where you can enjoy a morning coffee before setting out on your day's activities.
Please note: the bed is a small double situated under the roof on a mezzanine floor just and is accessed via a wooden ladder. It is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Set in a quiet village street yet still very close to all the amenities of the main town of Beaumont-Hague. From the front door you can access kilometres of walks on public heath land, often with expansive views out to sea. Within walking distance is the neolithic burial site of Pierres Pouquelees, from where you can also watch hang gliders take to flight. The studio is just 500metrres from the bay of Herquemoulin and Treize Vents where you can join the coastal path.

Restaurants, food & wine

There are numerous cafes, restaurants and creperies in the area, many with stunning views. There are establishments to suit all tastes and budgets in Cherbourg, but in the local area, two of the most highly recommended are Les Tamarins in Vauville (booking essential) and La Malle aux epices in Auderville (booking advisable).

Activities

Le Cap de la Hague has wonderful coastal walks as well as opportunities for cycling, hang gliding, windsurfing, sand yachting, riding etc.
There are beautiful gardens open to the public; poets' and artists' houses to visit, plus numerous arts and crafts exhibitions throughout the summer months.
There is also a wealth of history to explore in the area, from prehistoric times to the present day, and, of course, some excellent restaurants for eating out.

  • Flying and gliding

Additional price info and offers

The bed is situated under the roof on a mezzanine. My advice is to bring a sleeping bag which can be opened and easily spread out on the bed to lie on. You then need to bring just a normal duvet cover (double) and pillow cases for the top.
