Activities
From spring to autumn, Varengeville offers a wonderful bouquet of gardens to visit.
Many walks are to be discovered, as long as we want to walk.
Varengeville is bright and painters are not mistaken: Monet, Isabey, Miro, Braque... came here. Musicians and writers were inspired by the place. Maupassant was born 2 steps from home.
Dieppe 7 km is a city of art and history. From Francois 1st to the Duchess of Berry, the anecdotes are numerous. We have to walk there, nose in the air, to admire the ironwork of the balconies;
The market on Saturday morning is a must, and you can buy fresh fish and seafood at the port every morning.
- Near hiking trails
Further remarks
The "Bois des Moutiers" is one of the most beautiful flower parks in France. Not far away, there is also the park Vasterival of Princess Sturdza and the garden Shamrock, the largest collection of hydrangeas in the world with more than a thousand species.
Le Manoir d'Ango is the castle-residence of Jehan Ango, a pirate and one of the most flamboyant historical figures of Dieppe.
A little further on is Miromesnil Castle, where Guy de Maupassant spent his childhood. Don't miss the garden.
Dieppe Castle Museum reflects the rich history of the city (ivory trade).
The coast and inland are dotted with original villages: Veules-les-Roses, Saint-Valery-en-Caux, Etretat, Luneray, La Chapelle-sur-Dun, .....
The house is well situated for a visit to the Claude Monet Gardens in Giverny or the D-day beaches. Paris is only two and a half hours away, Rouen one hour.
