Reviews
Gerard en Judith Franken from Apeldoorn,
What a wonderful gite and environment. A beautiful peaceful spot in Occitanië. Perfect hosted by Francis and Clare, we really immediately felt at home and really enjoyed their hospitable company. The Gite has everything you need and more. The pool is delicious and in combination with the lovely villages nearby, the outstanding nature this is by far the best place we have ever been to in France. We will definately will be back some day. If you are looking for a peaceful spot in nature, where you can also visit cozy markets and medieval towns or the bigger towns like Albi, you are in the right place to be. Simply lovely.
Comment from Clare Hansom
Thank you Judith and Gerard for your lovely comments. We loved having you stay and very much look forward to welcoming you back some day.
Desmond Spruijt from Amsterdam,
A fantastic place with a private garden that is fact larger than on the photo's. A very fine pool, with a view across the valley. Clare and Francis are lovely hosts.
Tessa from ARNHEM,
Restaurants, food & wine
Our nearest town, St Antonin Noble Val has a varied selection of restaurants and bars. Further afield, good restaurants can be found in Albi, Najac, Cordes sur Ciel and Varen. Gaillac and Cahors are the main wine producing areas here but there are also several small local vineyards producing very interesting wines using local grape varieties.
Activities
The charming, medieval town of St Antonin Noble Val is a 10 minute drive. Set on the banks of the River Aveyron, the town is famous for its historic architecture and boasts the oldest civic building in France which dates from the 12th century. In St Antonin you can hire bikes to explore the surrounding countryside and even hire a canoe to lazily drift down the River Aveyron with its stunning, dramatic gorges on either side to admire and to watch for a diverse selection of birds. St Antonin is a walkers' paradise with over 30 designated paths criss-crossing the town. Further afield is the UNESCO World Heritage site in the city of Albi which also has the Toulouse Lautrec museum as one of its many attractions. Najac and Cordes sur Ciel are two notable ancient villages to visit. Plenty of vineyards are dotted throughout all this area which all adds to its varied diversity.
