The house
L'Oustal du Viaur is a gite complex consisting of three independent gites with shared grounds and a large swimming pool. The grounds are shared by the owners who have a separate dwelling on site. The first gite is a spacious two bedroom gites with a master bedroom and a triple bedroom a large kitchen diner and a sitting room. There is a shower room and WC on the ground floor and a bathroom and WC on the first floor. It has its own patio with a sun canopy. The second gite sits alongside the first and can be linked to the first by a ground level door and an upstairs door. On the ground floor there is a large kitchen diner, a shower room and Wc and then a cozy twin bedroom. On the second floor is a lounge with access to a balcony and a large double bedroom. Up under the eves is the master bedroom and a lovely bathroom with wc. The final gite is across the pebbled courtyard. This gite has a very big patio with great views over the gorge, inside there is a triple bedroom on the ground floor, a large open kitchen and lounge and has a shower room and Wc off the living room area. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms and the family bathroom and WC. The complex has a games store with badminton, table tennis, boules equipment and other small games and there is a laundry with two washing machines a dryer, ironing facilities and the site recycling section. Please note that we are a family site, we live on site and are situated in a hamlet with elderly neighbours and neighbours sensitive to noise late at night. The property is not suitable as a party venue or for groups of young adults and we politely request that outside music is turned off and noise is kept to an acceptable volume after 10 pm..

Perched high up on a hill above the Viaur Gorge with views for miles. We are on the edge of a little hamlet but just 5 minutes from the RN88 which whisks you away to all the activities in the Aveyron to the North and the Tarn to the South.

Restaurants, food & wine
Gaillac is our local wine growing area known for its full bodied reds. There are many local vineyards to go and taste before buying. Locally the food is typical rural food - Duck breast, Toulouse Sausage and Aligot to name a few and for the brave Naucelle Tripou (tripe) is a local delicacy. For those who enjoy fine dining there is a Michelin starred restaurant in Sauveterre de Rouergue.
Activities
The area is very rural but we are never far from local activities. It is an excellent base for rambling and longer walks with beautiful scenery accessed straight from the property. Canoes can be hired in the gorge below at the campsite - ideal for smaller children or longer canoe sessions are available on the Tarn near Albi. There is a horse riding centre in the next village. In Carmaux 15 mins from the property there is Cap Decouverte - an amazing sports and activity centre based in an old open cast mine. During the summer months there are many local fêtes and night markets to explore and as we are in bastide country there are some super bastides swamped in history waiting to be discovered.

Further remarks
In July and August the local night markets are a must to experience where you choose your food from local producers and then eat on mass in great little market areas with every one else and just soak up the atmosphere.
