The house
The Maison de Georges is a spacious authentic farmhouse several hundred years old. Originally, they had a barn for livestock on the ground floor and lived on the 1st floor. The heat from the cattle heated the rooms above in winter. A few years ago, the interior was completely rebuilt so that now you will find comfortable accommodation with all modern conveniences.
You can still reach the living floor of the Maison de Georges by stairs outside. Upon entering, there is a large kitchen diner with a fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped. Also on this floor two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, and a separate toilet. Both bedrooms are suitable for two persons (one room with a double bed and one room with two single beds). Stairs lead from the kitchen diner to the attic, which is a large living room with large windows offering beautiful views of the surrounding area. Here you can relax on the sofa, read a book or watch a film (DVD/Video). By means of two separate beds, there is also sleeping accommodation here. The house has air conditioning and WiFi.

La Maison de Georges is part of our Domaine "Les Granges aux Bouys". Bouys is a small hamlet consisting of a few farmhouses in the hamlet of Soussis in the Tarn et Garonne department in south-west France. Soussis consists of a beautiful old church on the Boudouyssou stream. Around it are scattered houses and farms. There is a farm with Blondes d'Aquitaine cows and there is a great variety in the landscape. Meadows with grazing cows or sheep alternate with fields of sunflowers, patches of forest, waving grain or fields of flowers. Walking or cycling through the area, there is an ever-changing view of the surrounding hills with beautiful vistas.
"Les Granges" (the barns) are situated on top of a hill covered with oak trees and boxwood bushes in a quiet and still authentic part of France. On our 1-hectare site, there are old barns that have been converted into lovely, atmospheric homes. No luxury country houses or resort bungalows here! With us you stay in a simply restored farmhouse amidst cowsheds and meadows, overlooking the hills with hiking and mountain bike trails, beautiful vistas and simple villages.
The gently sloping grounds offer several spots to perch:
- on the steps of La Maison de Georges overlooking the neighbour's stables, who regularly drops by with his tractor,
- at the back of the garden overlooking the hills, or
- at the beautiful swimming pool (6x12m).
In short: an ideal place for those who love peace and quiet and want to enjoy the countryside.

Wat hebben we een geweldige tijd beleefd met het gezin op deze prachtige locatie! Als je voor je rust op vakantie wilt is dit zeker een aanrader. In de voorbereiding van onze vakantie was de communicatie heel fijn en duidelijk.
Het ontvangst was zeer warm en hartelijk. Het eerste weekend van ons verblijf waren Joep en Mirjam en enkele familieleden ook aanwezig in hun eigen huis. Dit voelde niet als een belemmering voor ons, maar eerder als een stukje gezelligheid. Het huis is schoon en sfeervol ingericht waarbij de authentieke details bewaard zijn gebleven. Hierbij is het vermeldenswaard dat de keuken veel ruimer oogt als op de foto's. De bovenverdieping is eveneens ruim met een zithoek en slaapgedeelte. De warmte konden we met de airco verdrijven.
De heerlijke, ruime tuin inclusief het ruime en schone zwembad gaf vertier voor ons allemaal.De omgeving is heel rustig. De verschillende mooie dorpjes en winkels liggen op 15 min rijden met de auto. De lokale bevolking is heel vriendelijk wat maakt dat je je echt fijn voelt in deze omgeving.
Bij Montcuq is een ruim waterpark met luchtkussens. Dit is 10 euro voor een uur per persoon en 7,50 euro parkeerkosten.Yvonne from Elim,
Laat ik beginnen met dat we het een heel fijn huis vinden! Alles is aanwezig, schoon en ook ruim. Precies wat wij leuk vinden aan een Franse gite! Met een fijn, schoon, groot en diep zwembad.
Door de warmte (tussen de 37 en 41 graden) hebben we helaas weinig kunnen ondernemen. En dat is jammer, want er is heel veel te zien en te doen in de omgeving.
We hebben veel in het huis vertoefd met de ventilator aan. Dat was nog te doen.
Ondanks de warmte hebben we ook uitstekend kunnen slapen met de ramen ‘s nachts open en ventilator aan.
Als we niet meer afhankelijk zijn van de schoolvakanties zouden we zo weer terugkomen!

Wij hebben een fijne week gehad in la Maison de Georges. Wij hadden het hele domein voor ons alleen. Het huis is goed ingericht en alles wat je nodig hebt, is aanwezig. Ook met warm weer blijft de benedenverdieping goed koel. Het huis is heerlijk rustig gelegen en er zit een grote tuin omheen. Het zwembad is erg prettig en daar hebben we veel gebruik van gemaakt. Het is makkelijk dat er een douche en toilet in de buurt van het zwembad is.
Restaurants, food & wine
You have an excellent French-style meal at Chez Nadine restaurant in Saint Matré. You can enjoy real culinary delights at the restaurant of wine estate Chateau Chambert in Floressas. And the larger villages nearby (Sauzet, Tournon, Montcuq, Lauzerte) all have one or more restaurants worth a visit.
Of course, the big cities of Cahors, Agen and Montauban offer a choice of eateries.
In high season, there is also the possibility of buying a meal together in the evening at a wine grower's in Saux, as well as the 'house wine', and then devouring it at long tables to musical accompaniment.
As for wine, in the nearby Lot department you will find the world-famous Cahors wines and many wineries to visit. Particularly recommended are Domaine d'Homs in Saux and Chateau Laur and Chateau de Chambert in Floressas.
Delicious are also the local melons (with their own appellation) 'melon de Quercy', available directly from the farmer.
The market in Montaigu-de-Quercy (Saturday mornings) is still a real market with many local producers. On Sundays you can go to Rocquecor and Montcuq, on Thursday mornings one of the largest markets in France takes place in Monsempron-Libos and on Fridays there is a cosy traditional market in Prayssac on the Lot.

Besides the Maison de Georges you also have access to the hangar, an open barn with an extra summer kitchen with toilet, shower, sinks, cooker, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and a ping pong table, you can use the garden with swimming pool (6 x 12) and picnic table and campfire place. You can also use our internet facility (wifi).
