The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some traffic

The cottage is a compact but cozy little house in a 200 year old stone pigeonnier (pigeon tower).
On the ground floor is a small open kitchen (2 burner stove and fridge) with a sofa and dining table. From the kitchen window you have beautiful views of the surroundings and the idyllic sunken garden with pool.
The shower room with sink and WC is also on the ground floor. The bedroom is on the first floor, with a double bed and DVD-player (and stacks of DVD's).

Barbecue, garden furniture, including sunbeds by the pool, hammocks and parasols are available.

Your cell phone will work in our field and (not always) in the pigeonnier. There is also broadband Wi-Fi in the pigeonnier.

Our pigeonnier is centrally located between the Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot-et-Garonne and also ideal for a short stay when you are looking for a house in this beautiful region.

Lauzerte is a beautiful medieval bastide town in the charming Quercy Blanc region. It is located approximately 2 km away from us. From our garden it is just visible.
The pigeonnier is part of an 18th century farmhouse on a southern slope with stunning views of the countryside and wooded hills. We live in the original house, which lies at some distance from the pigeonnier. Our grounds (1 ha) consists of garden, vegetable garden, meadow (where our donkeys Gypsy and Soleil live) and some woodland. The garden offers ample opportunities for sunbathing, but also space under the large old trees to sit or lie down and relax. There are several high hedges between our house and pigeonnier which give our guests privacy.
The pool is located in a sunken and enclosed garden at the foot of the pigeonnier. Apart from a few hours per day (usually between 17 and 19 h we use the pool ourselves) the pool is for your private use.

Alors a bientot!

Restaurants, food & wine

Almost every village in the region organises one or more fêtes (=parties) in summer, where everyone can sit down for a small fee and enjoy the local cuisine and wine while entertainment is provided by local musicians.
Nearby you can visit the Coteaux du Quercy and Cahors vineyards. For those who don't mind driving a little further: Bordeaux, Bergerac, Fronton, Gaillac and Gascony.
There are plenty of small restaurants nearby to explore.

Activities

In Lauzerte but also in nearby villages such as Castelnau-Montratier, Montcuq and Montaigu de Quercy there is plenty to do. Markets such as the famous Sunday market in Montcuq, (outdoor) concerts and plays, flea markets, night markets, summer festivals (often with a repas-meals) marchés gourmands where you eat at long tables in the square what you've chosen in one of the many stalls.
Tennis courts and riding stables are nearby, a beautiful golf course is located 12 km away. Gliding and hot air ballooning over our area is magnificent. Fields to depart from are in short distance.
The area is also ideal for walking. We are happy to lend you our detailed hiking maps. The Santiago de Compostela route runs along Lauzerte and Montcuq.
Montaigu de Quercy and Montcuq have swimming lakes.
And for those who prefer to be active at home, we have a ping pong table.
We like to help you come up with and organise activities.

  • Near hiking trails
  • Fishing
  • Water sports
  • Flying and gliding
