The house
The house is arranged over two floors. With 120 m2 of living space, it sleeps 6 people. It is surrounded by a beautiful fenced plot of 2000 m2 planted with trees, with uninterrupted views of the hills. There is a swimming pool (3.5x7 m) in the garden.
On the ground floor, there is an open-plan kitchen with dining area and sitting area, and a large WC. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms: one with a double bed (160X200), one with 2 single beds (2x90x190) and one with two bunk beds and a single bed. There is also a bathroom with double basins and a very large shower, as well as a separate WC.
The house is comfortable and very well equipped. In the living room, you will find a television, a DVD player with a wide choice of films and a CD player. Board games are also available. There is a free WIFI internet connection. The rooms have plenty of storage space. Bed linen and towels are provided. Please bring your own towels for the swimming pool.
The house has a washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, microwave, ceramic hob and electric oven. A large fridge with freezer and a fridge-top allow you to store your groceries and keep your drinks cool during your stay.
There are reversible heat pumps in the lounge and 2 bedrooms and mosquito nets in all bedrooms.
Next to the house is a garage with a covered terrace. There is a large garden table and chairs. The sun loungers and parasol are in a small shed by the pool. There is a solid barbecue in the grounds and plenty of space to park several vehicles.
A small gate at the bottom of the garden provides access to the village and hiking trails.
Smoking is not permitted in the house. Pets are welcome.

The property is located in Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, a small village in the Pyrénées-Orientales, in the pretty Fenouillèdes valley on the border with the Aude department.
Perpignan, to the east, and Limoux, to the west, are a 45-minute drive away.
The surrounding countryside is remarkable: gorges, rivers with rapids, vineyards and picturesque villages.

Beste Jan en Sabine,
We hebben heerlijk genoten in jullie huis. Wat een fijne plek in de prachtige natuur. We willen jullie bedanken voor de gastvrije ontvangst met een knabbel en een drankje. Het huis is helemaal compleet. Het zwembad gaf ons de nodige verkoeling. We hebben ook dankbaar gebruik gemaakt van de tips over bezienswaardigheden zoals Gorges de Galamus, fort Quéribus, Perpignan, raften in de l’Agly en restaurants in de omgeving.
We komen vast nog een keer terug.

Wij hebben een fantastische vakantie beleefd in de vakantiewoning Valkyrie in Caudiès-De-Fenouillèdes. De woning is heel praktisch en gezellig ingericht en voorzien van alle benodigdheden in keuken, badkamer en tuin. De grote tuin is volledig omheind…. Een echt paradijs voor onze twee honden. Het zwembad is heel goed onderhouden.
Totaal niets negatiefs op aan te merken, zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.
Het dorpje is gezellig met mooie wandelroutes in de buurt en een mooie uitvalsweg naar grotere steden zoals Carcassonne en Perpignan.Comment from Jan en Sabine Riezebos

We hebben ruim een week een heerlijke tijd beleefd in La Valkyrie. Het huis is sober ingericht, maar van alle gemakken voorzien. Vooral de grote, afgesloten tuin was een heerlijkheid voor ‘onze vriendjes’. Een vriendelijke ontvangst door Ute, de beheerster. Het huis ligt aan de drukke hoofdweg, maar daar merk je vrij weinig van. Caudiès en St. Paul zijn gezellige dorpen in een prachtige omgeving.

Restaurants, food & wine
There's an excellent restaurant in the village itself. There is also a pizza truck in the village every Monday evening. Other restaurants can be found in St Paul de Fenouillet, just a 10-minute drive away.
There are many vineyards in the immediate area, including 2 in the commune of Caudiès itself. The famous Maury vineyards are just 20 minutes away.
There is a market in Quillan (20 minutes away) every Saturday morning selling fresh local produce, as well as a Dutch cheese stall.
On Sunday mornings, you can visit the huge Esperaza market, with its many stalls selling second-hand clothes, arts and crafts, market produce, butchers, delicatessens and more.
You can do a little extra shopping at the grocery shop in Caudiès. For larger purchases, there are several large supermarkets in St Paul de Fenouillet (10 minutes) and Quillan (20 minutes).
Activities
There's plenty to do in the immediate vicinity. Directly from the house, you can go hiking or cycling. Nearby, you can also go climbing, canoeing, rafting or canyoning.
Ecozonia is a beautiful wildlife park just 30 minutes away.
The beaches of Le Barcarès, Leucate and Toreilles are an hour's drive away. Equidistant, there is also a very fine aquarium at Canet en Roussillon.
The nearest ski resort (Mijanès) is an hour's drive away. It's a very pleasant little family resort. If you are a good skier, you may prefer to drive a little further to the very large resort of Les Angles (1h15 drive).
Nearby, you can discover many Cathar sites such as the castles of Quéribus, Peyrepertuse and Puylaurens. The impressive Gorges de Galamus are a 10-minute drive away. The charming village of Cucugnan is a 30-minute drive away.
A little further afield, you can discover the famous medieval city of Carcassonne (1h30 drive) or the very impressive animal park at Sigean.
The Spanish border is an hour and a half away.
