The house
Gite Matisse is part of the old manor together with Gite Monet (also on this booking site). Gite Renoir is located separately.
Holiday home Matisse has three large bedrooms and three bathrooms. The spacious sitting room with an ancient black and white tiled floor features a cosy seating area. The separate dining room/kitchen contains an original fireplace and a dining table for six. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, oven/microwave, dishwasher and Nespresso machine.
Gite Matisse has a private terrace overlooking the Lot. There are a six-seater dining table, chairs and a lounge set to enjoy a glass of wine, a meal or just to relax with a good book. The (shared) swimming pool is accessible via the courtyard.
Recently, it has become possible to add a separate double guest room to gite Matisse. This is accessible via the living room of the gite. For more information, please contact.

Domaine La Croze is located between Puy L'Évêque and Vire sur Lot. The park-like garden includes a lovely swimming pool and a tennis court. La Croze is located directly on the River Lot. Here you can enjoy the rushing waters of the river where you can fish, boat and canoe. A small sandy beach is 100 metres away for lovers.

We hadden een leuke vakantie in gite Matisse. Prachtige locatie, mooi en fris huis, goed ingerichte keuken, aangename bedden en een heerlijk terras aan het water. We hebben bijna elke dag gebruik gemaakt van de tennisbaan en het leuke zwembad. Bedankt ook aan Barbara & Pim (en Pedro) voor de gastvrije ontvangst.
Restaurants, food & wine
Cahors is a well-known wine region. La Croze is located among the vineyards of several (very) good wineries. These can be visited without appointment. There are also many good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The village of Puy l'Evêque is about a five-minute drive away (45-minute walk) and has a local market on Tuesdays.
Activities
Enjoying the water
The Lot river offers every opportunity for water sports. If you want to bring your own boat, this is possible. There is a boat ramp a short distance away and La Croze offers space to moor your boat. A 5-minute drive away you will find the pretty village of Puy-L'Eveque. Cruises depart here daily in summer and canoes can be hired.
As La Croze is located on the river Lot, it is a lovely place to relax or enjoy the sound of the rushing water with a good book.
Tennis
La Croze has a tennis court that you can use free of charge. Tennis rackets and balls are also available.
Yoga and Pilates
Hostess Barbara gives both private/semi private and group lessons in Yoga and Pilates classes (on request). She has gained years of experience all over the world. She enjoys helping people deepen their 'practice' as well as possible physical discomforts that can sometimes be easily remedied by certain exercises or stretches.
Cycling and walking
The area is ideal for cycling and walking. The so-called Voies Vertes ("green paths" = walking and cycling routes) run for about 140km along the river Lot and connect ancient villages. This Voie verte is easily accessible from La Croze.
Markets, vide greniers, brocantes and marchés gourmands
The Lot is known for its many markets, vide greniers and brocantes where you can buy delicious goods and beautiful typical French items.
In summer, many marchés gourmands are organised. There, you can enjoy the delicacies and wines of the region while sitting at long tables.
Golfing
There are several golf courses in the area. A 10-minute drive away is the 9-hole La Bouysset golf course.
Beautiful French cities and chateaux and French life
The Lot contains numerous beautiful cities such as Cahors , St Cirque La Popie, Rocamadour, Puy L'Évêque, Penne d'Agenais and Montcuq where you can admire the ancient architecture or just go shopping, drinking or eating. The nearby Château Bonaguil is also worth a visit.
Many fine restaurants can be found in the vicinity of La Croze.

In the early and late season, the gites can also be booked for a minimum of 4 nights and arrival and departure days are flexible. During the high season the arrival and departure day is Saturday.
