The house
The interior of this holiday home exudes cosiness. It consists of a living area divided into a fully equipped kitchen (with gas hob, combi-oven, dishwasher and fridge), a dining area, and a spacious sitting area around the wood-burning stove. Above the kitchen area there is a "split level" with a separate sitting area that also houses the television (TV). The living area opens onto the hall from the back door where, among other things, there is a washing machine. This hall also gives access to the two bedrooms, the bathroom and one of the terraces. Incidentally, one bedroom is equipped with a double bed (160 x 200) and the other has two single beds (90 x 200). Both bedrooms have a wardrobe and an electric radiator, and on the bathroom you will find a spacious shower, the toilet two sinks and an electric towel radiator.

Holiday home Sous le vieux Chêne is located on a hill, one and a half kilometres from the village of Thédirac. The location is quiet and free of traffic. Despite the quiet location, the first necessities of life are relatively close by. In the village of Thédirac there is a bakery, and in Lavercantière you can visit the "grocery". Both at 3 km distance. The medieval town of Gourdon is 18 km away, and this will be the place for the "big" shopping. Gourdon has a beautiful old centre as well as all amenities with restaurants, terraces and large supermarkets. The largest town in the vicinity is the wine town of Cahors, which is less than half an hour's drive away.

Wij hebben de afgelopen 2,5 samen met onze Rhodisian Ridgebacks een fantastische vakantie gehad in Sous Le Vieux Chene. Heerlijk huis met grote tuin op een prachtige rustige plek bij het dorpje Thedirac. Alles was aanwezig wat je nodig zou kunnen hebben. Complete uitleg hoe alles werkt staat beschreven in de map. Diverse zitjes, voldoende schaduw. De honden konden naar hartelust rennen en spelen met elkaar. Leuke uitstapjes gemaakt naar kastelen, dorpjes, meertjes, gewandeld, veel gelezen, (race)fietstochten. En de eigenaren Anouk en René zijn echte toppers. Kennis gemaakt op hun camping La Goudalie. Wat hebben zij ons enorm geholpen nadat wij met de auto een klapband kregen. Dan merk je dat je school Frans echt niet voldoende is. Anouk heeft van alles rond gebeld voor ons naar het sleepbedrijf, de garage, taxibedrijven, niets was haar teveel. Ook hier nogmaals dank jullie wel voor de heerlijke vakantie in jullie huis en alle hulp. #genietenvanhetfranseleven

We hebben hier een geweldige tijd gehad. De gite is top: voorzien van alle moderne comfort en voelt toch authentiek Frans aan, en wat een rust en ruimte!
Enorm genoten van de heerlijke warmte die de kachel ons gaf, en de lange wandelingen in de omgeving. Contact met eigenaren verliep soepel en vlot. Kortom, een aanrader!Katie from South Yorkshire,
What a beautiful gite in peaceful surroundings with lots of wildlife. An excellent location too for the Lot and Dordogne. Clean, characterful and the big log burner is wonderful (ensure you are comfortable working one if staying in the cooler months). Thank you for an amazing stay.
Restaurants, food & wine
This is, of course, the region of Cahors wines, goat's cheese and, of course, foie gras. In this area of France, people love food in general and that is one of the reasons why there are so many restaurants with Cahors wines on their menus.
Activities
There is plenty to do in the immediate vicinity of the cottage, and as the cottage is almost on the border of the Lot and Dordogne, you can benefit from both departments. You can canoe on the Dordogne and Lot rivers, go horseback riding at various locations, swim at the plan d'eau of Catus and the outdoor pool of Lavercantière. You can make beautiful walks and for cyclists and mountain bikers it is a true paradise. You have to take into account that in the Lot not a single metre is flat! There are many famous towns, villages and markets to visit in both the Lot and Dordogne (Rocamadour, Castelnaud, Sarlat, Domme, La Roque-Gageac etc.). The caves of Padirac are within easy reach and for those who love wine culture, the area of the Cahors wines is a great place to visit. There are numerous vineyards where you can taste and buy the local wines.
