The house
The house is in a rural setting in the hamlet of Goth. It has a garden enclosed with plants and trees. There are a few other houses in the hamlet, so it is not completely isolated. The house has a large stone staircase leading to the front door and a covered terrace, where you enter into a cosy living kitchen with a huge fireplace, sitting area, kitchen and dining table. The house has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one with a bath.
THE HOUSE
The house has grounds of about 4,000 m2. The property has a driveway for cars, where several cars can be parked. From here, a gravel path leads to the house, with a large stone staircase leading to the front door. At the top of the stairs is a covered terrace, where you can have dinner together or play a game. On this terrace is also the front door of the house. You enter a cosy living kitchen, with a big old fireplace (can be used if necessary), and a sitting area. Also located here is the kitchen and a large dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an oven, dishwasher, fridge, coffee machine, kettle, 3-burner gas hob with extractor fan and all necessary kitchen utensils. There is also an old stone sink here, an old element of the house that has been preserved.
From the kitchen you walk through a corridor to an original old wooden door, another old element preserved in the house, which leads to a bedroom (bedroom 4 in the photos) with a double bed. This spacious room has an old fireplace, which used to be used as a fireplace as well (no longer in use). In this bedroom, a staircase leads down to a bathroom with shower and toilet.
Back in the corridor from the kitchen, a wooden staircase leads up to what used to be the attic. All the old wooden beams are still visible, and again an old wooden door has been preserved, leading to bedroom 1. Bedroom 1 is a spacious bedroom with 1 double bed and 1 single bed.
A corridor leads to bedroom 2 (with double bed) and bedroom 3 (with double bed). The bathroom has a shower with a large bathtub, a toilet and a sink. In addition, if you want to come with more than 10 people, there is an extra gite with its own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
Towels, bath towels and bed linen are all provided.
There is also wifi.
THE GARDEN
In the spacious garden, covered with trees and plants, you really have a place to yourself. Here you will find the swimming pool with a terrace with sun beds and chairs to relax during your well-deserved holiday. The garden area by the pool is completely fenced in so your pets can roam freely here.
At 50 metres from the house is a barn that will be converted into a house here we stay ourselves, so we are always available if something is wrong.
There is also a two-person gite on the property, which we do not rent out to holiday guests. But there is a chance that someone will stay here to support me for a certain period of time. As guests, you are not affected by this and the house and garden are completely private for the guests.

The house is in the hamlet of Goth, in the midst of nature and in the countryside of the municipality of Serignac, in the Lot department. It is secluded, but not completely isolated: In fact, Goth has three other houses. The houses in Goth were built around 1870.
For nature lovers, this place is ideal: the Lot is known for its beautiful nature with many hiking and cycling paths. But also for its picturesque medieval villages and vast vineyards.
The house is located in the Lot department, formerly also known as the "Quercy" province, in south-west France. The department owes its name to the river that runs through it: the Lot.
This river is a 10-minute drive from the house, and is one of the cleanest rivers in France. You can fish for carp, catfish, eel and zander, among others.
For the more adventurous among us, you can rent canoes and kayaks in the various towns along the river, or take a trip on the river by boat. You also have organisations where you can book canyoning and climbing tours, and there are several tree-climbing parks nearby.
There are many picturesque villages and towns to visit nearby. The nearest village is Sérignac, 4 km away. There is a small neighbourhood supermarket where you can buy all the necessities and where you can order fresh bread every morning. There is also a cosy restaurant with a bar.
During the summer months, there is a nice food market to visit every night of the week. These food markets are held in different spots around the house. All within a 20-minute drive. At these food markets, you can enjoy local delicacies and a drink. Music is also played at each food market.
The nearest larger towns are about 15 km away. For example, you have the medieval town of Puy l'Éveque, where you can do your shopping at a typical French market every Tuesday and Saturday morning. There is also a bank, pharmacy, large supermarket and tourist office.
The hustle and bustle can be sought in cities such as Cahors (40 km) and Agen (50 km).
As there are many places of interest in the region, we cannot describe everything (we can send a list on request), but some places that stand out include the Castle of Bonaguil (21 km) and the Castle of Biron (35 km), both castles from the Middle Ages that can be visited.
You can also spend a day out and visit the beautiful religious town of Rocamadour (100 km), classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the famous stalactite cave of Padirac, where you can experience an underground boat ride.

Restaurants, food & wine
Driving around the beautiful countryside, with its many valleys and rocky hills, you will come across many vast vineyards. Indeed, the house is located in France's oldest wine region, covering over 4200 hectares and home to the red "Cahors wine" (Malbec), a wine with protected designation of origin (AOP). There are many wineries nearby where you can taste and buy wine on location. You can also enjoy delicious food in the region, for instance, the region is known for its many dishes with nuts, lamb and authentic French cuisine.
Activities
The Old Farmhouse of Goth is located in the department of the Lot.
The department is in the Occitanie region, with Cahors as the so-called capital. The department is crossed by three rivers, the Lot, the Célé and the Dordogne. These rivers have eroded the land, creating beautiful landscapes between the cliffs and plateau of Causses de Quercy. This has also created many caves that can be visited, the example being goufre de padirac. Here you will find a spectacle of underground lakes and huge stalactites.
Also worth visiting are the prehistoric caves in pech Merle. Here you will find wall drawings more than 30,000 years old. Another thing Lot is known for are Rocamadour and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, ancient villages built into cliffs.
Lot is a department that has something for everyone, nature reigns supreme here, and you can discover it by hiking or cycling.
All this enterprise requires energy, of course, and the region's gastronomy is certainly not a punishment to discover. The region is known for its foie gras, Quercy lamb and specialities based on nuts, truffles and of course the delicious wines from the region (the Cahors wine region).
Serignac is the village to which the hamlet of Goth belongs. It is a small village where you can find a mini super, bar and restaurant. There is also an open tennis court/basketball court/football field you can use. A concert is usually organised once a month at the restaurant/bar, at which time a meal is also served. At the mini super you can order fresh bread every day for the next day.
In the months of May, June, July, August and September, there are many evening markets and village festivals to visit in the region. There are several evening markets to visit around our location in July and August. These evening markets are at fixed locations on a fixed day during the week. Here you can enjoy delicious food and buy a delicious bottle of local wine. There is also music from a DJ or a band.
The village festivals start at the end of May and continue until about mid-September. Everyone is welcome at these festivals and if you want to join us for dinner, you can sign up for it. Often, these village festivals last three days and there is a different programme each day.
There are many beautiful old castles to visit in the area, the picture above shows the castle of Bonaguil which is a 20-minute drive from the house. Other castles worth visiting are, Chateau de Castelnaud, Chateau des Milandes, Chateau de Beynac and Chateau de Biron here concerts and events are often organised as well. And if you don't mind driving a little further, you can always visit beautiful Carcassonne.
If you like to visit museums, there are plenty in the region too, we have listed a few for you. Museé du froie gras, Lascaux (here, complete walls have been reconstructed with old wall paintings), Museé Henri Martin, Museé de préhistoire Sauveterre and Museé Ossip Zadkine.
Mountain biking
Are you a lover of cycling and in particular (e-)mountain biking? Right on the road from our location is a red e-mountain bike route. The route is easy to do, even for experienced mountain bikers without electrical pedal assistance! Besides this red route, there are also green and blue routes in the area. The village of Masquières is less than 4 km from our location. Would you like to depend entirely on rentals or predetermined routes? Of course you can. Some of our guests have also created routes on this app that you can easily follow. Many roads and paths through forests and/or along the Malbec vineyards can be walked and/or cycled freely so the routes are diverse and of course more than challenging!
Climbing
Climbing in the Lot can be done in various ways, both in wild nature and in tree climbing parks. If you don't go to a tree climbing park, you can choose via ferrata or wall climbing. From this house, the tree-climbing parks are the least far at about 20 min to 40 min. To climb in the wilderness, you will soon be in the car for an hour anyway, but even this is a short drive by French standards. You could also drive towards the pyrenees this is about 2.5 hours away. This is the beauty of our location, you can go in all directions.
Water sports
In terms of water sports there is also a lot to do in the region, for example, you can sail all over the river in a canoe or on a boat. Twenty minutes from the house there is a lake where there is a wipeout track throughout the summer. If this still does not meet your requirements, you can also choose to go rafting, but keep in mind that you then have to drive 2 hours. Furthermore, 40 minutes from the house there is a large water park / amusement park (Walibi) (Agualand Agen) so if you love theme parks this is definitely a must.
Cycling
Cycling is also possible in this region, just don't expect any mountain stages as there are none to be found. But if you enjoy cycling through beautiful surroundings with quite a bit of altitude difference, this is the place to be. There is also a chance that the tour de france passes nearby, as was the case this year. Then you can admire this spectacle up close.
The river Lot
The Lot River, a tributary of the Garonne, flows through green and preserved landscapes. In Quercy, this gentle valley is famous for its vineyards, those of the Cahors wine region more specifically. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, beautiful perched village; Puy l'Évêque, a medieval village in the heart of the wine region; the castle of Cénevieres, fortress and Renaissance palace; Cahors and Figeac, the two Art and History towns of Quercy. So many wonders of the Lot Valley not to be missed! A cruise by boat on the waters of the Lot is also a great way to start discovering the many treasures of this valley.
Fishing in the Lot
The Lot has an extensive fishing population. Besides carp and barbel, it also has catfish, eel, chub, perch, pikeperch, trout and black bass. The Lot is one of the cleanest rivers in Europe. It is fed mainly by (rain) water from the National Parc des Cevennes and by the various springs. In France, you are allowed to fish with 4 rods per person. The fish here are very strong and therefore in no way comparable to "ordinary" mirror and common carp. You can get the fishing licence at the tourist office in villeneuve sur lot, 30 minutes from here, or in a fish or tabac shop. Keep in mind that not all fish and tabac shops sell these licences.
