The house
" Le Cournou" overlooks its own park-like grounds of 2.5 hectares and the small hamlet of Rouillac. In spring, the garden is full of beautiful flowers... It is a fine, comfortable holiday home, originally a farmhouse and thus built in the typical style of the Quercy. It is located about 4km. from Montcuq. Totally recently renovated, it has become a complete holiday home, with a personalised decoration in" vintage campaign" style, lots of artisanal and antique furniture, real paintings and many nice things... cosy and comfortable and has a 4-star rating. You will enjoy peace, nature and its own mikroclimate . Everywhere birdsong and many colourful butterflies...The house has an entrance hall on the ground floor, with toilet and boiler room, an oak staircase to the first floor and access to a spacious luxury kitchen, adjacent to a large bedroom and here a separate shower room with washbasin. Upstairs again a separate toilet, a door to the outside (to a shaded terrace) , the bright living room and the second bedroom, again with a separate shower and washbasin. All this of great luxury and modernity. On this same property there is also our other gîte "Le Petit Cournou", a good distance away, simpler and smaller, but a really nice gnome house. These two gites have absolutely no interference with each other and are not in each other's view.... The houses can of course also be rented together.
For hot days, both houses have free access to the beautiful "plan d'eau" of Montcuq, with excellent, natural water quality (drapeau bleu).

The Cournou is about 4 km from Montcuq, where you can find everything you need. Nature is all around you, birds and butterflies everywhere, you walk starts at the front door. It is absolutely quiet and overlooks its own park. Sheltered against the rock face, there is a wonderful microclimate. This place is unique, the old D28 no longer runs,( so no passing traffic and therefore absolute peace and quiet! Montcuq is just a few kilometres away for all your shopping and entertainment.

Cournou is een heerlijk huis in een prachtige, rustige omgeving in de buurt van het mooie Montcuq. Het was precies waar mijn echtgenote en ik naar op zoek waren. Het charmante huis met z'n authentieke karakter is voorzien van alle modern comfort, Het is precies zoals het op de site beschreven staat, en meer! De sympathieke eigenaren, Marjan en Roel, kwamen de tweede dag even langs om te kijken of alles in orde was: erg gezellig!
We kijken terug op een zeer geslaagde vakantie in de Lot!!
Restaurants, food & wine
On the culinary front, you can of course enjoy it immensely here, which is one of the reasons to visit this region.... The Cahors wine region is nearby, but there are also many smaller wine regions, which are no less qualitative. As an enthusiast, you can visit the caves in many places and pick out a nice bottle.... More and more producers (of fruit and vegetables, but also wine farmers) are switching to organic production....
We also recommend a visit to Lauzerte, a beautiful medieval town and then you should not miss a visit to the pizzeria "the Etna", ( owned by our son ), to enjoy a real "pizza Napolitana", prepared with fresh local products in an original wood oven.(.and many other dishes). A nice terrace , a cosy ambience and an extensive, good wine selection....
Activities
The Cournou is located near Montcuq in the Lot, a beautiful area with lots of nature, history, and a wonderful climate. The house is located in the middle of this beautiful nature, a clear starry sky, many birds and butterflies, a wonderful tranquillity and beautiful walking surroundings. In summer, for a cooling dip there is the beautiful "plan d'eau", with excellent water quality. We give you a gtratis free access to this bathing water. Montcuq is a cosy village with an excellent Sunday morning market. Here you can also find good food and everything else you need. In high season, there are all kinds of fun events, such as antique markets, flea markets, music performances and large communal meals with local dishes. Outside the high season, it is mainly quiet and hiking, cycling and touring areas... The clear starry sky is also famous , there is still little light pollution here and the Milky Way can often be seen beautifully. Around the house, nature and wildlife can be heard and seen , plenty of colourful butterflies and birdsong..and hiking trails start at the front door.... In Montcuq, the "Office du Tourisme" shows you the way to all kinds of fun events in the area for young and old. Here you can also find and get everything, bank, newspaper, restaurants and all kinds of shops and shops ...
Why always rent from Saturday to Saturday??.... this is, vootal in high season really not a good idea, given the huge crowds on the roads ... Many traffic jams and you run unnecessary risk. That is why we decided to do this differently...(.although it is always still possible.) We just rent on the free date (but mint 7 nights) We hope this will work.
In high season we give you a free pass to the beautiful swimming lake at Montcuq, a beautiful location with excellent water quality.

I hope I have been able to convince you of this fine house , the beautiful place and the wonderful region , so that we can share it with you..... we have lived here for 40 years (near Lauzerte), have an organic farm, a lot of work, but it is far from boring!
