The house
Bonjour et Bienvenue at Caroline and Aart's place. Latest news of the moment: the Tour de France visited us on 11 July!!!
It was quite a happening and provided some very nice images on TV too.... Currently we still have a last minute offer and there are still some weeks to book.
Our little domain consists of 4 hectares of land on which the old Moulin/ sawmill we live in is located.
Next to it (on the left) is the former house which now consists of a studio and a flat. Both with their own entrance and privacy.
Surrounding the grounds are the small and large Thèze rivers which feed and refresh our pond.
Studio: You rent a charming recently fully renovated, fully equipped studio with terrace doors on the garden side.
It can accommodate 2 people and is suitable for the disabled.
There is a small sitting and dining area, modern fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, induction hob and microwave.
The studio has a double bed and a very spacious bathroom. The studio is non-smoking.
Towel package/ bed linen/ kitchen linen is included. No extra charge for final cleaning. In consultation you can use the washing machine, oven , ( electric) bikes. The Studio is officially classified with 3*** by the office de Tourisme.
Dogs are in principle welcome (in consultation, as we also rent a 4 pers. flat and have a Border Collie ourselves).

Montcabrier is close to the Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage route. Located in the Lot valley, bordering the departments of Dordogne, Lot and Garonne. Tarn and Garonne.
Each with their own culture, nature and Charm. It is a unique location to discover several areas within a driving time of 1 hour.

Wát was een mooie week! Heel mooi en sfeervol appartement met alles erop en eraan! Zelfs een heerlijk ontbijtje in de koelkast en wat een leuk idee , die namen labels voor de handdoeken! Aan elk detail is gedacht, geweldig!
Ook de kinderen hebben enorm genoten, ze vonden de hond geweldig en wat hebben ze genoten van het vissen zeg! Afgesloten met het samen eten in het dorp, heel erg leuk.
Ook jullie gastvrijheid en openheid naar de kinderen toe hebben we als heel prettig ervaren, ze vonden het een feest om hier te zijn !.
Mooi ook hoe de gesprekken waren die we hebben gehad. Ik moest aan een lied denken. In jullie gastenboek een deel van het liedje geschreven, als wens voor jullie.

Wát fijn dat jullie zo hebben genoten! En wij net zo! Prachtig Levijn en Eleanor samen te zien , ze zijn n echt team! 😉 Eleanor deegballetjes maken en Levijn vissen. Ook die metamorfose was mooi om mee te maken, waardoor er ook menig visje aan t haakje kwam!

Wij hebben ook genoten van jullie bezoek ; Liz, dankjewel voor de tekeningen en Franse les , Aart was daar ook erg blij mee 😉! Charlie ook bedankt voor jouw tekeningen, ze hangen nog op de kast! Namens Nounouille (en mij) allebei bedankt voor de kappersbeurt ! En erg gezellig met elkaar het Kub spel gespeeld. Ik beloof Kim en Liz dat ik zal gaan oefenen!😂

Lieve Caroline en Aaart,
Om te beginnen, wat een super ontvangst op jullie prachtige domein! We zijn echt onder de indruk van het schitterende plekje wat jullie hier gecreëerd hebben. Alle rust en de prachtige natuur om ons heen en wat valt hier in de omgeving veel te beleven, en nog meer met alle goede tips van Caroline. Als heel bijzonder hebben we jullie gastvrijheid en gezelligheid ervaren.
We denken met heel veel plezier terug ( nu al), aan de heerlijke maaltijden bij jullie aan tafel en niet te vergeten aan de verjaardag van Aart : om 10.00 u. koffie met gebak en toen bleek het ook nog eens jullie trouwdag te zijn, wat een gezelligheid en feest. Vanavond dat nog even afgesloten met een prachtige mooie rode wijn uit de Lot. Echt onvergetelijk! We hopen hier snel weer een keer terug te komen! Dikke knuffels, Marion en Jan.
P.S. de 'bibliotheek' kwam ons ook goed van pas. Ik heb het boek meegenomen en kom te wel een keer terug brengen...😉Comment from Aart Stougje

Restaurants, food & wine
On the culinary front, you can indulge yourself here. The walnuts, hazelnuts and all products related to... as well as plums ( very famous are the Agen plums).
Goose liver ( foie gras), excellent lamb ( Label Rouge), mostly organic ( goat) cheese and truffles.
And of course not forgetting the famous Cahors/ Malbec and Bergerac wines.
In the months of July and August there are many 'dining' evenings, the so-called marché Gourmand, also called the marché des producteurs de pays/also called marché nocturne.
In short ; long tables, regional products, freshly prepared, ( live) music, conviviality!
On Friday evenings in our village Montcabrier where you can basically walk to on a nice forest path.
Activities
The Lot is a beautiful department. With its forests where you can enjoy cycling / mountain biking. On 11 JULY 2024 came the Tour de France near us ... Was quite an experience!
There is a golf course nearby (4km.), you can fish for trout at the trout farm. In our neighbouring village they rent Fatbikes.
The river Lot is a wonderful place to cool down or to canoe, supp, sail or fish.
Of course, there are many more things to do......
The Lot has numerous vineyards/wineries ( Cahors/ Malbec wines). Gastronomically famous for many local products (read more under the heading 'surroundings').
In the months of July and August are everywhere the Marchés Gourmand, where you buy local delicacies and eat at long tables together.
In the vicinity are 2 markets (Prayssac and Momsempron Libos) which are definitely worth a visit.
And also the caves, castles, old towns and lovely villages make the Lot a delight for every holidaymaker.
For more practical and interesting information about the area and its possibilities, we have many tips but you can also find a lot on the internet.
Present : Ping-pong table, badminton net, cubes game , books and board games. Swimming pool is shared with any guests of the flat.
Relaxing fine on your own terrace, in the garden by the pond, on a sun bed or in a hammock can of course also enjoy.

Of course we are happy to inform you, there is also much to find on the internet ( much more than we can tell you) if your interest is piqued.
Moreover, there is a Tourism office nearby, in Puy L'Eveque and Fumel.

Prices include final cleaning, beds/linen, bath and kitchen linen package, internet/Wifi, use of washing machine i.o.
Halfway through the week( for stays of 7 nights) you will receive a clean towel and kitchen linen package.
The beds are made on arrival. For the first morning there is a breakfast in the fridge.
We have 2 electric bikes available. Pets welcome by arrangement , if agreed no extra costs.
Not included: Booking fee, tourist tax and bath towel for swimming.
