The house
The house has been renovated by us, with precious help from our family and friends. It has been our holiday home for 10 years now, and we are very proud of the result of our work. Originally very dark, the house has now become bright and comfortable.
The large beams, the upstairs flooring and the warm colours make it a welcoming and user-friendly place. The entrance is spacious and well-lit. The “Black Room” on the left has three enormous windows that justify the colour on the walls. The furniture is simple.
The “Red Room” on the right is cosy. We’ve installed a desk in conventional wood there. There is also an old record player with a collection of discs from the 60s and 70s.
Further on is the “Blue Room” furnished for children and the “Yellow Room” which looks over the garden and offers a particularly restful area.
Between the Black Room and the Blue Room, there is a small bathroom with a sink. The same can be found between the Red Room and the Yellow Room, with a view of the garden.
The house is an independent building. It is surrounded by a large garden through which runs a small river, where you can see trout. Ducks pass by regularly to rest by the water.
The big terrace offers both shade and sun at all times of the day. Behind the house, near the river, there is a small terrace where you can make a campfire, which can also serve as a barbecue. In the evening, the sun sets on that side of the garden.

Surroundings
The house is located at the edge of the Loures Barousse village, on a terrain of 2800 m2. The village centre, with its church, is situated only 200 metres from the house. You will find all necessary commodities there (pharmacy, hairdresser, bakeries, bar, grocery store and weekly market).
Loures Barousse is on the edge of the Garonne. Barbazan is on the other side of the river. Both villages are very quiet.
You can go on many good walks in the surrounding area: for example, you can discover the artistic village of Saint-Bertrand de Comminges; or visit the shores of the many rivers towards the Pays de l’Ours. By car, you can be in Lourdes or Toulouse in less than an hour. Of course, you can also spend a day in Spain (Bossost).
Nearby, you can explore Saint-Gaudens, Montrejeau, and Lannemezan, where you can do some shopping or hunt around the markets and antiquaries.
There are also several mountain lakes that are great for swimming in (Loures Barousse, Barbazan, Montrejeau) and the ski slopes of Nistos, Superbagnières or Le Mourtis are barely half an hour away.

Reviews
Aad Rijgersberg from KAPELLE,
Fraai huis, perfect gelegen.
Jacqueline from Winsum,
Zeer liefdevol ingericht huis
Goede hulp bij vragen en onduidelijkheden.
Huis binnen heel schoon aangetroffen
Description and distance from ski station
Area: Le Tourmalet
distance: 15 - maximum 30 kms near skiing
Restaurants, food & wine
The villagers are proud of their cheese: le Barousse! An excellent cheese containing cow or sheep’s milk (sometimes both, mixed together)
Every Friday morning, you can buy local specialties as well as deliciously fresh products on the Loures Barousse market, which takes place 150 metres from the house, in front of the village’s picturesque church. There is also two bakeries, a café, a pharmacy and a hairdressing parlour on the village square.
Activities
Loures-Barousse is situated on the edge of the Garonne. You can fish there, but you can also do some rafting, starting from Labroquière.
There are many opportunities for bike rides in the area.
There is a tourist office in Loures Barousse which can provide you with all the information required for the numerous walks that are available, like the one around the Lac d’Oo for example.
By following the Garonne, you can go all the way to Spain (half an hour’s drive away), where you can go on shopping trips, even on Sundays.
In St Juste, you will be able to admire the Roman remains there. There is also a beautiful cathedral in Saint-Bertrand de Comminges. Lourdes is 60 km away from the house.
You can go swimming and rent paddle boats or canoes at the Lac de Montrejeau. Don’t miss a visit to the Pays de l’Ours, in Arbas, 25 km from the house.
For bike riding enthusiasts, the Tour de France passes through the village every year!
The Chemin de Piemont (St Jacques de Compostelle) runs past the village.
