The house
A holiday home for 2 people of over 60 m2. Through the completely free terrace with dining area, lazy chairs, BBQ and parasol, you enter the gite. In the hall the toilet is large enough to also accommodate the washing machine. The next door is the spacious bathroom with shower and washbasin. The living room with a very spacious kitchen invites you to prepare an extensive meal. Besides a dishwasher, very complete equipment, cooker with grill and oven, you will lack almost nothing. The gîte also has a cosy dining area and a sitting area with TV. On the mezzanine floor is the bedroom with small extra toilet so you don't have to go down the stairs at night. Through the large Velux skylight you have a lot of light in the gite. At night this can be closed with an electric shutter. Outside there is a staircase to a higher terrace with the large heated pool.

At the foot of the Cevennes lie the cottages of Mas Sivelou, a 14th century mas (farmhouse), where wine was once grown and silk was made. Mas Sivelou is situated on a hill and has a beautiful view of the valley. The altitude is about 250 m, so still plenty of the warm Mediterranean climate. On the terrain there are a number of olive trees, and plenty of herbs like rosemary, thyme and sage. On the higher terrace you will find the heated swimming pool in the sun, where you can sunbathe on one of our sun beds, open from April 1st to November 1st.
Mas Sivelou is located in a very rural area, but within a fifteen minute drive you are in the old tourist town of Anduze with its many restaurants and terraces, small shops in the centre and three supermarkets. Historical cities like Nimes, Montpellier, Uzes and Avignon are all at about 1 hour's driving distance. The medieval charming village of Sauve, at 7 km, is definitely worth a visit.
The environment is characterised by many trees, including cypresses and holm oaks on the one hand, and vineyards and historical hamlets on the other. The narrow road that leads to Mas Sivelou is only used by the few houses that are situated along it. From Mas Sivelou you can make beautiful walking and cycling tours.

Restaurants, food & wine
Unique wines are made on the neighbouring wine estate. The domain offers guided tours through the vineyards and the cave, including a tasting of course. The Languedoc is the largest wine producer in Europe and at short distance there are dozens of domaines and caves to visit with wines in all price and quality categories. In the surrounding medieval villages there are many small but excellent restaurants.
Activities
From Mas Sivelou you can walk and cycle directly, for both you have the choice of going straight into the Cévennes and steeper and steeper climbs on the many cols. To the left, the area is certainly hilly but less hilly. Both areas are very quiet on an hour long walk you might encounter one or two other groups of walkers and on a bike you can often ride for an hour and encounter one or two cars. The landscape is very varied with forests and vast vineyards. We have both cycling and walking routes available. There are many beautiful, mostly medieval places in the immediate vicinity, Anduze with its many restaurants, terraces, small shops in the centre and three supermarkets is pleasant all year round. Furthermore, the steam train to St Jean du Gard departs from here. It takes you through the Gardon Gorge and to the bamboo greenhouse, the largest bamboo garden in Europe. Sauve is a medieval town stuck against the rocks beautiful and a few good restaurants. Further cities like Nimes, Montpellier, Uzes and Avignon are all at about an hour's drive. An hour's drive away are the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea or also an hour's drive and rent a canoe for a day to enjoy the current of the Herault.

Further remarks
In an old Cevenol Mas we have a total of 7 gites with all different owners. Some of these gites are rented out, the others are used for the holidays by the owners themselves. The old style of the buildings has been maintained with the addition of modern comfort. Each gîte has a lot of privacy and the gîtes do not overlook each other's terraces. They are situated in such a way that you cannot see or hear each other. On a higher terrace lies the heated swimming pool with sun beds.

FBJL from Amsterdam,
Zwembad is goed onderhouden. Zeer vriendelijke eigenaar. Al met al een top locatie.
Leendert en Mieke from Nieuwegein,
Jeroen & Maya from oegstgeest,
