Reviews
Jacqueline Defauw from Amersfoort,
Thank you very much, Joanne en Jon!Comment from Jon Clements

fred wouters from Rotterdam,

Thanks for your lovely review Fred. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at La Violette and the beautiful surrounding g area. With regard to your comment about the distance to attractions, we would add that there are two beautiful lakes for swimming and water sports within half an hour - one less than 15 minutes away. There are also the pretty villages of Brousse le Chateau and St Izaire with their medieval chateax within 15 minutes and of course the beautiful Tarn River 5 minutes away. There is an excellent grocery store in Broquiès village and also a small supermarket and other excellent shops in Villefranche de Panat, a 12 minute drive from La Caze.
We have solved the bed problem - it was a soft mattress topper which we have now removed..
We would love to welcome you all back for another holiday at La Caze Gites in the future.
Restaurants, food & wine
The area is the home of Roquefort cheese - the brebis sheep on the farms surrounding the Gites provide the milk - and other delicious sheep's milk cheeses, such as Tomme . Aligot, a delicious dish of mashed potatoes and Tomme is a local speciality. Eat it with local sausages or confit of duck. The towns and villages around La Caze have restaurants serving both local specialities and more international cuisine. Wonderful fruit and vegetables are available in the local markets along with local meat and cheeses. There is a wine domaine in Broquies where you can buy locally produced wine. The summer night markets are wonderful opportunities to eat and drink local produce in beautiful surroundings accompanied by music and dancing.
Activities
The area around La Caze is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful in France and there are lots of things to do in the vicinity. Go kayaking on the River Tarn, paddling through mini rapids from the bridge below Broquies, five minutes from La Caze, or take a more sedate trip from St Rome de Tarn or Viala du Tarn. Alternatively, relax on one of the river beaches and take a refreshing swim in the Tarn. Lac de Villefranche de Panat and Lac de Pareloup, 15 and 35 minutes from La Caze, are perfect for swimming, water sports, boat trips or just relaxing on the many beaches. The lake at Villefranche de Panat has a 10km walkway around it, great for running, walking and cycling. The nearby town of Millau is a centre for outdoor activities, including parascending, white water rafting and canyoning. You can also cycle along old railway viaducts and through tunnels on the Velorail at Sainte Eulalie de Cernon. Local stables offer horse riding and the area has numerous marked tracks for walking, hiking and cycling.
