Domaine du Moment

The Lauragais is sometimes called the Tuscany of France and covers the south-western part of Languedoc Roussillon.
At 1200 kilometres from Utrecht, our holiday home 'Domaine du Moment' is located in the small village of Soupex.

The cosy holiday home, with its own entrance, measures about 75 to 150m², and can flexibly accommodate 1 to 10 people.
The ground floor of the house has limited wheelchair access. We rent in 2 formulas: the smaller (basic) version with 1 bedroom and bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a garden terrace, in addition there are on the first floor, via the old interior staircase, 2 additional, spacious bedrooms with bathroom and possibly in front of the house a 4th bedroom with bathroom and private bathroom, which brings the total capacity of 1 to 8 to 10 people.
The atmosphere is sunny, furnished with antiques and brocante in shades of white and green.
The master bedroom, living room and dining room with open kitchen and access to the south-facing terrace and a separate spacious bedroom with bathroom are located off a central corridor.
All beds are brand new of hotel quality, large (200 x 180 and 90 x 200) and really very comfortable.
All bathrooms have a shower, a sink and a toilet.
The kitchen has all conveniences including a dishwasher.
A washing machine, iron and ironing board and extra fridge are available if required.
The private terrace facing south has a panoramic view over the beautiful Lauragais region.
Our holiday home is located in the tiny centre of Soupex, fresh bread can be ordered through the post office and in the surroundings there are the well-known simple typical French restaurants.
In summer we sometimes organise barbecues and table d'hotes, breakfast on the 1st day after arrival can be arranged on request.

Within a 10- to 15-minute drive are numerous historical villages.
The two small towns of Revel, famous for its beautiful covered market, and the bustling Castelnaudary: capital of the 'Cassoulet' offer all shopping facilities.
Half an hour to three quarters of an hour away are the larger cities of Castres and the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne.
Albi with its Unesco World Heritage-listed cathedral and France's fifth largest city Toulouse are 1 hour away.
In the area around Soupex there are several hiking trails such as the one to Santiago de Compostella and wonderful cycling trips with beautiful views.
At the foot of the Montagne Noire lies the beautiful lake of St. Ferréol with its sandy beach where you can cool down under the rising slopes and quiet peaks.
Near Soupex, there are also other smaller fish-rich lakes.
A stone's throw away, the leafy Canal du Midi meanders through the gently rolling countryside.
In an hour you can be bathing in the Mediterranean or in the mountains of the Pyrenees where numerous castles and ruins from the Carthaginian era can be visited.
And of course you can also laze around at our swimming pool (15x8m) or find a quiet spot in the adjacent, sufficiently private garden.
