Maison Elaine

A centuries-old village house (1500) with the atmosphere of yesteryear and the luxury of today offers you the chance to taste the real French life; in the morning, walk to the Epicerie (neighbourhood shop) for fresh croissants 1m from your house in this village on the 'Cathar route'. Close by is Caracassonne with its imposing castle. Castles and water sports on the rivers, it's all within easy reach. A day at the beach: within an hour and a half you are on the beaches of Narbonne.

Inside is a large kitchen diner with a robust dining table. Next to it is an intimate lounge with television and DVD player and mobile air conditioning. The bathroom is spacious with Italian walk-in shower and a separate toilet. Upstairs are three bedrooms with two double beds, two single beds and a small bathroom with toilet and large washbasin. In the attic you will also find a huge lounge to relax in the sun, read a book or lay down a yoga mat. When you enter the courtyard garden, you imagine yourself in days gone by, what an atmosphere! A comfortable teak garden set and sun beds are waiting for you.

Mas-Cabardes itself is a lovely walking village with running streams and spring water from Rochefere. On weekends, a cosy café is open. Just 1 km away are the largest waterfalls in Europe with a nicely located restaurant. The beautiful swimming lake of Pradelles Cabardes is about 15 minutes' drive away and also has 2 nice restaurants. Las Tours with its world famous castles is a 10-minute drive away. Apart from the museum the bakery/tea house there are also some nice restaurants here.
In summer, both Mas Cabardes and the neighbouring villages organise lots of music and good food events.
