The house
Grand Pic is a large 3 bedroom gite which can accommodate up to 6 people. It can also be booked with our smaller 4 person gite, Petit Pic, for groups of up to 10 people. The ground floor is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen. There is a large dining area, and the dining table can comfortably sit 6 people. The ground floor is completed by a lounge area with TV and DVD player. The TV offers free to air French and UK TV channels. Also on the ground floor is a utility space with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a shower room and a separate WC.
The three bedrooms are located on the first floor along with a family bathroom. The main bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom has two single beds and the third bedroom two bunk beds. Although the bunk beds are best suited to children the beds are full size and can accommodate an adult. On the outdoor terrace there is a picnic table which will also comfortably seat 6 people. The gite also has a BBQ (fuel and lighters supplied) for outdoor cooking.

The gites are in a rural location about 10kms from Belvezes du Razes which is the nearest village with shops and other facilities. We are surrounded by farms and the only thing to disturb our guests are the nearby donkeys. At night you may hear the owls and on clear evenings the stars put on a spectacular display as we have no light pollution. If you are looking to enjoy a few days getting back to nature, this is the place for you!

Restaurants, food & wine
The best restaurant in the area is the Chateau de Camon. If you are looking for a special meal out, this is the place to go. The menu changes regularly and all dietary requirements can be catered for - just mention your needs when you make the reservation. Chateau Pennautier is also a good choice with the added bonus of being an excellent local winemaker. Attached to the restaurant is an extensive wine shop. There are many good choices in Limoux and Mirepoix. Mirepoix has an excellent local market in the main square every Monday morning - combine a visit to the market with lunch. Try Le Chapelier Fou, particularly if you have someone in your group who is vegetarian. Closer to Les Pics Blancs, in the village of Cailhau, you will find A'kotee bistrot, run by a friendly Belgian couple. For pizzas, burgers and salads, visit Le Rol in Belvezes.
We are in the middle of a wine producing region. Perhaps the most famous local wine is Blanquette de Limoux, a sparkling white made using the methode champenoise. But there are also plenty of local producers with opportunities to taste and buy at the cellar door.
Activities
We have a 10m x 5m swimming pool with pool toys and games. There are also swings and a trampoline for the children. There are many good walking trails around the house for those who like hiking. The GR7 long distance path passes close by. Bike and e-bike rental can be arranged and delivered to the property if necessary. Several equestrian facilities are located a short drive from the property.
