The house
The gite is part of a contemporary house, built of stone and wood, situated on the edge of a hamlet, a very quiet location, where the air is pure and in the summer the crickets sound from the acacia trees and cypresses.
The gite is peacefully situated between small vineyards and hills, the foothills of the Pyrenees.
It has a large living room with French doors (37m2) leading to a south facing terrace, with fully equipped kitchen, television, shower, separate toilet, dining area and a separate bedroom (22m2). In the living room there are comfortable armchairs and a sofa, also 1 single bed. The bedroom has a double bed with good mattress.
The modern looking rooms are high, light and cool in summer and warm in winter (underfloor heating). The floor in the living room is made of stone from the nearby quarry and the bedroom has a wooden floor. There is a covered outdoor area (12m2) and a terrace with sun and shade. Beautiful views over the garden with fruit trees, Romanesque church and the surrounding hills. Sun bed and outdoor chairs. There is a private parking and a fenced garden of 5000m2.
Present: oven, microwave, dishwasher, tv, wifi, linen. Please bring your own bath towels.
There is a washing machine at your disposal.
Dogs are welcome after consultation. The cottage is non-smoking.

Surroundings
In the Aude you will find all of France back in one province, from sandy beaches to ski slopes, old fishing villages and medieval towns to rugged Cathar castles and wild gorges with fast flowing rivers to beautiful rolling hills with olive trees, sunflowers and vineyards ........
According to many, the most beautiful region of France, authentic and quiet.
Festes et St.André is located in the Cathar region with its fascinating, rich history, mysteries and caves.
Historical places like Carcassonne, Fanjeaux, Mirepoix and Montsegur are certainly worth a visit. There are many places to experience the powerful energy in our area such as the labyrinth in Nébias, the hermitage in the Gorges de Galamus and Mary Magdalene cave at Rennes le Chateau and not to forget the powerful mountain 'Pech de Bugarach.
In Arques en Montsegur you can visit the small museum which introduces you to the history of the Cathars with its many Castles. There is a special "angel" gallery to visit in Alet les Bains.

Reviews
Donovan Vanluchene from Pittem,
Frank from Nijmegen,
Jelma en Rido from Nieuwe Pekela,
Restaurants, food & wine
The Languedoc has the largest wine production of France. Wine lovers have a large choice of good wines such as Corbières, Malepère, Minervois and Blanquette de Limoux ( the fist ever sparkling wine, invented in 1531 by monks of the St. Hilaire monastry). You can visit the wine cellars in Limoux and in the lovely square you will find several restaurants.
Enjoy the local dishes and delicacies such as cassoulet, magret de canard, truffles or if you like it sweet, Limoux noga. In summer there are several concerts and traditional village festival where you can join in at the long tables for a delicious French meal.
Activities
Great for those looking for relaxation, hikers and cyclists. For the serious cyclist there are plenty of challenging cols.
Also ideal if you want to learn more about the Cathars.
Festes et Saint André is located in the middle Cathar country. Its rich history, mysteries and castles can be experienced by visiting the castles: Montsegur, Lastours, the Quéribus, Peyrepertuse.
In the immediate vicinity you can take many beautiful well marked walks in the hills with vast vineyards, forests and hills and beautiful views. The hills are about 600 meters high. You can also climb the peaks (1500mtr) of the Roc Blanc, the Mont d'Olmes and the famous mountain Pech de Bugarach leading to a fantastic view of the Aude and the Corbieres, with its flying vultures.
Many cultural activities in the small villages such as music, art exhibitions and flea markets. In Esperaza on Sunday a lively weekly market with many organic products. Here you will also find a nice hat museum and a Dinosaur Museum. Limoux has the famous cave Seigneur d'Arques, where in 1531 the first champagne was made, the Blanquette de Limoux and the charming square full of vivacity and restaurants.
In Carcassonne, you can visit the famous old walled Cité, the Canal du Midi and the Saturday market. Rennes-les-Bains, enjoy the thermal baths and the famous Rennes le Chateau, you can visit the church and the parsonage from the novel the DaVinci Code. Or visit the special Mary Magdalene cave. A powerful energy spot is also the hermitage in the Gorges de Galamus, an experience that is really worthwhile.
You can swim in the various lakes, Lac de Montbel, the Puivert Lac and Lac d'Arques.
