The house
Our big beautiful house exudes old allure, original old floors and fireplaces, carved ceilings, stained glass doors and two balconies at the front and back made for a princess-worthy balcony scene.
On the ground floor is a spacious kitchen with everything to cook for 15p, the non-cooker can cozy up at the high bar table. Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room with two long tables for 8p each. In the old sideboard you can still find the beautiful glassware and other treasures more than a hundred years old left to us by the previous owner.
On the other side of the corridor is the 'old gentlemen's room' left in stately condition where you can quietly read a book or socialise with your friends or family.
There are also two bedrooms that have a shared ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet. The spacious third bedroom on the ground floor has an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower and toilet.( this bedroom is suitable for 3p) There is a general toilet on the ground floor.
Upstairs you will find the nice living room, ...large with lovely plush sofas and a smart TV.
Also here is bedroom 4 with its own shower and sink.
Bedroom 5, 6 and 7 share a spacious bathroom. The separate toilet for the upper floor can be found in the hallway.
In the garden in front of the house we have built the terrace for breakfast or any other meal of course with again two long wooden tables. Next to the house there is a second terrace overlooking the park-like garden. A little deeper is the pool terrace with beautiful lounge beds and the saltwater pool ( 9 x 4) , endless pool type with the same view and sunshine until the last blade!
A path next to the pool leads to a children's play area where you can also enjoy the panoramic views as an adult sitting under a tree.
Oh yes, in the front garden is a beautiful petanque court, in the evening sun with a glass of pastis it completes the French picture!

This large stately country house, with a beautiful French garden around it, is in the middle of a village. And what a village it is; Bize-Minervois. It doesn't get more French than this, with the weekly market every week, a few restaurants, a bric-a-brac shop, a bar for the morning coffee and of course a fresh bakery, a small supermarket and much more.
And ... if you walk out the front door, within 5 minutes your feet are in the Cesse, a super fun river where old and young come together for swimming and picnics!

Restaurants, food & wine
Besides the restaurants in the village, there are several nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity where you can just have a good meal. But there are also plenty of restaurants in special places (les salins) or with a well-deserved star in Narbonne. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to delicious wines in our region. You can taste wine in so many places in the region, so many possibilities! You can always contact us for tips.
A visit to the olive press l'Oulibo is also great fun. You can taste oysters at several places along the coast.
Very famous are the halls of Narbonne, open every morning with a choice of fresh fish meat, cheeses, vegetables, fresh herbs.
Activities
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area. The MANOIR is in the middle of a village, 5 km from the Canal du Midi, in the middle of Cathar country. A 35-minute drive away are long sandy beaches on the Mediterranean. Drive past vast vineyards, join a wine tasting, visit fortified Carcassonne or fashionable Montpellier.
Cycle along the Canal du Midi, visit the Cathar castles, have a lazy lunch on a terrace in Narbonne or a picnic by one of the many rivers; you can do anything here.
And then in the evening just 'home' again, lighting the BBQ, a game of petanque and a final dip in the pool.

What you also need to know...
For various outings with children, we are wonderfully central here.
A selection of different activities:
-Swimming in Ribaute or in one of the many other rivers around here
(even in our own village), jumping off the rocks wonderfully adventurous.
-Go to the animal park, reserve Africaine de Sigean, an African reserve in Sigean.
-Kayaking in Puicheric.
-Lac de Cavayere, a beautiful lake close to Carcassonne where there are all kinds of things to do:
a landscaped water park with inflatable big pillows,
for the daredevils, swinging from tree to tree in a parc acrobatique
lovely little beaches, pedalos and a mini-golf course.
-Naturally, take a bucket and spade to the beach!
-For even more water fun visit the water theme park in Valras Plage
or the slightly smaller espace liberté in Narbonne with a huge water slide
where you can go skating and bowling as well as swimming indoors and outdoors in large pools.
