The house
Le Petit Donjon is a brand new renovation of a former barn at the charming Chateau Mareuil, adjacent to the Chateau's magnificent medieval Donjon and is right next door to the luxury 12m x 6m pool! It comprises a salon/dining room with a sofa bed and a kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor. It has 2 double bedrooms on the first floor plus an additional single fold up bed. A cosy woodburner in the salon makes it a great place to stay at any time of year.
Of particular note, is the beautiful bespoke custom made interior stained glass window which links the Petit Donjon with the Donjon itself, this adds an ethereal ambience with it's vibrant colours, textures and lighting. The interior has a contemporary look and feel which contrasts dramatically with the Petit Donjon's rustic exterior.
The Petit Donjon has it's own private outside terrace overlooking the pool.

Le Petit Donjon is set in the beautiful rural tranquility of Chateau Mareuil with it's ancient turret and pretty gardens. It is immediately adjacent to the Chateau's medieval Donjon with which it shares a significant stained glass window. Set amongst fields with grazing sheep and sunflowers and flanked by a pretty meandering river, Le Petit Donjon is just a few steps away from the significant 12m x 6m swimming pool!

Chateau Mareuil is close to the town of Montmorillon, where there are a number of restaurants to choose from, amongst them, "Lucullus" and "Le Romain des Sauveurs". A little further is "Les Orangeries", a Michelin recomended restaurant in Lussac le Chateaux. About 15 minutes away, are more local restaurants, "Le Relais" at St Martin-le-Mault and "Chez ma Pomme" at Tersannes. Most guests opt to eat at least once at the chateau during their stay - a delicious 4 course dinner with wine is available at €39 per head.

There are lots of country walks in the area and we have our own private river banks. We also have a large games room available for your use with an American Pool table.

Further remarks
An idyllic, peaceful, historic retreat set in the beautiful French countryside of the Vienne region. Within a day's drive of Holland & Belgium and within an hour of Limoges airport and just over an hour from Poitiers, also easily accessible by road from the English Channel crossings in the North. The beautiful climate means you will be able to take full advantage of the luxury 12m x 6m pool during the Summer months.
