The house
Marie-Anne Rudolphi and Rokus Loopik welcome you to Chateau Mondou. There are three gites available for you: chateau gite Bellevue for 8 people, 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, with large balcony for the most beautiful views and sunsets. The gatehouse or La Loge for 6 people, very spacious and high and in terms of atmosphere it has something of a Hacienda. And finally the gite la Grangée for 4 people, with a private courtyard and a large garden from where you have a far view over the countryside. The houses are tastefully decorated and have new beds. The large gite has a new, very comfortable bathroom. A communal outdoor kitchen with BBQ, wood-burning stove with grill and pizza oven is at your disposal. At the long tables you can enjoy each other and the food. The large communal swimming pool with wide views completes the picture. All gites are free from each other but if you want you can still be together. The gites can also be rented individually, send us a message and we will tell you the possibilities.

Chateau Mondou still just belongs to Villeneuve Sur Lot but is located in the countryside. That means space, freedom and wide views but also being in town within five minutes for shopping, terraces, restaurants and markets. Villeneuve Sur Lot is a pretty, not too busy town with a little Spanish feel here and there. There are also many picturesque villages in the area, each with their own markets and brocantes.

Hallo,
Wat een topplek is het. Het was ons derde bezoek en steeds verrast de plek, de natuur en de omgeving ons. Dit jaar was er veel verbouwd en aangepast. Ook het zwembad was waanzinnig verbouwd. Deze week waren we met 9 mensen ( 4 parties) te gast bij chateau Mondou. Het gezelschap was echt uniek. Ieder had zijn eigen ritme en vrijheid en ook samen waren we verbonden. We hadden zeer bijzonder mooie gesprekken, fantastisch eten, heerlijke muziek, dansend in de avond zon. De plek leent zich tot al dit moois. Alles kan en niets moet. Rokus en Marie Anne waren samen uitmuntende gastheer & vrouw. En wij sliepen in het kasteel, in een zeer zeer ruime grote kamer met een geweldig bed.

Dank voor deze fijne recensie, we worden er verlegen van. Moet even een nuance aanbrengen dat het fantastische eten in gezamenlijkheid werd bereid. Ieder droeg een gerecht aan en dat werd samen een mooie gevulde tafel. Jullie dank voor de positieve energie.

We hebben een prima week gehad. Alles was schoon en netjes. Fijne keuken, leuke zitjes en enorm gezellig met de andere vakantievierders. Een heerlijk zwembad in een prachtige omgeving.
Restaurants, food & wine

Lot and Garonne is known for its very good wines and inexpensive excellent food.
Specialities include goose pate, truffle, plum tart and lots of fresh fish.
Activities
The chateau is located in the quiet countryside but you can also easily reach the town of Villeneuve sur Lot with its terraces, restaurants and cosy town centre. You can rent bikes at the local Maison de Tourisme. There are five large supermarkets, several markets with regional products and an organic market. There is a museum, a theatre, library and a music stage on the river Lot, in the centre, with free performances every week. There are many atmospheric villages with events, bric-a-brac markets and in the evenings there are food markets everywhere, with long tables and food trucks to have a drink or dinner together. There are many good restaurants in this area. Unique meals, first-class products and at a bargain price. With lunchtime even a lot cheaper.
It is the region of Bergerac wine, Cahors and Buzet wines. The rolling countryside lends itself well to bike rides and walks.
For the children there is 'Walygator Parc', as well as 'Arc en Ciel' for the slightly older children. You can visit other castles, such as Bonageuil or Duras Castle, which is well worth a visit. And for the big kids, there's canoeing on the Lot. Super cool and lovely fresh water.
You can walk, cycle, canoe on the Lot and Dordogne rivers, go golfing (good 18-hole course with fine restaurant 8 km away) or play tennis. Plenty to do. We have a very knowledgeable and experienced Dutch masseuse at home, which some people come especially for. And just staying at the chateau, with the pool and a good book might be just as enjoyable. Bring your binoculars to spot birds and wildlife.
For your orientation: Villeneuve sur Lot is near the towns of: Bergerac, Villereal, Monflanquin, Monpazier and Eymet.
