The house
Stylishly furnished holiday home with all the luxuries demanded today. Plenty of space for 2 people, possibly with a child up to 3 years old. Living room, fully equipped kitchen, luxury bathroom, bedroom, exclusive use of heated swimming pool, private covered terrace, large outdoor area for sunbathing and relaxing, TV, internet and much more.
Les Volets Bleus has beautiful views, is located in a quiet area and within walking distance of the beautiful bastide village of Monflanquin.
The gîte is a completely separate part of the house with its own driveway and entrance. It has a bedroom, separate living room with sitting area, dining table and luxury kitchen.
The kitchen is new and has every imaginable appliance, such as induction hob, convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine. From the living room you enter a small corridor that gives access to the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom has also been renovated and has a shower, toilet, bathroom cabinet and a design radiator. The bedroom has a double bed (separate duvets possible) and plenty of wardrobe space. A folding cot/baby bed can be added. High chair is also available.
Outside is a covered terrace with views of the hilly countryside and a large uncovered terrace with lounge area, barbecue and dining table. Guests have exclusive use of the heated swimming pool with surrounding terrace with plenty of sun loungers and parasols. At the head of the pool you can sit/lay out of the sun as there is a large sunshade, or later in the afternoon by natural shade.

Monflanquin is a beautiful bastide village in the Lot-et-Garonne and is situated on a hill with a magnificent view. The gîte is at 10 minutes walking distance from Monflanquin. At the gîte you have a view on Monflanquin and a hilly landscape.
The international airport Bergerac is at less than 40 minutes driving distance.
There is a large supermarket 5 minutes drive from the gite.
Monflanquin has a fitness centre, tennis courts. You can also go horse riding and rent bicycles. Nearby are two golf courses, a large swimming lake with pedal boats and a water park. The area has many marked walks of different lengths suitable for all levels.
Villeneuve sur Lot is the nearest large town, 20 minutes drive away. The river Lot runs through the centre of Villeneuve and the town has many shops, boutiques and terraces. On the outskirts there are large hypermarkets and other shops that you would find in a large French city.

De Gite is OP EN TOP in orde : stijlvolle inrichting, alle nodige apparatuur, goede bedden, goed ingerichte keuken met voldoende borden, glazen...enz., Er is ook voldoende buitenmeubilair aanwezig : de gezellige loung hoek, het onbijthoekje in de schaduw. En dan het zwembad : ruim, proper, voldoende ligbedden. Gewoonweg zalig.
Marion en Ron waarderen ook heel erg je privacy.
Het dorpje Monflanquin heeft niet superveel restaurantjes, maar je kan er overal even lekker eten. En heb je geen zin om op restaurant te gaan, dan is echt alles aanwezig in de gite voor een BBQ.
Hier is echt aan ALLES gedacht.
Van alle locaties waar we al gelogeerd hebben staat 'Les volets bleus' zeker op nummer 1.

Wat ontzettend leuk om deze recensie te krijgen. Dat doet ons veel, want altijd proberen wij het verblijf van onze gasten zo plezierig mogelijk te maken. En telkens zijn we op zoek om er nog een schepje bovenop te doen. Jullie waren zeer fijne gasten, bedankt voor de komst en wellicht tot ziens.

TOP locatie voor een zalig verblijf met z'n tweetjes in de Lot-et-Garonne.
Alles is aanwezig in de gite, super netjes, zalig zwembad! Gelegen aan rand van gezellig dorp. Winkels en eetgelegenheden op wandelafstand.

De Gite is fantastisch, heerlijk gelegen ten opzichte van het dorp Monflaquin. Aan alles en dan ook echt alles is gedacht, we konden zelfs kiezen uit het type koffie zet apparaat, Het zwembad is heerlijk en brandschoon net als de gite zelf. Ron en Marion zijn de perfecte gastheer en vrouw, ze waarderen de privacy van de gasten. Komen af en toe langs om te vragen of alles ok is en geven terloops goede tips wat betreft uitjes/dorpjes in de omgeving.
Wij hebben er een hele leuke vakantie gehad en raden de gite aan iedereen aan. Ron en Marion nogmaals hartelijk bedankt!
Restaurants, food & wine
The great diversity of the soil provides the raw materials for a wide range of delicious, traditional regional products. An ideal region, therefore, if you would like to be pampered with French cuisine.
Strawberries, nuts and soft sheep's cheese, but also foie gras and beautiful black truffles complete the most exquisite dishes. The summer king plays the leading role at local markets and is the great favourite of light desserts and sweet and sour jams. The soft goat cheese melts on the tongue, releasing a subtle creamy and nutty aroma. On a slice of crusty bread, with nuts in a salad or warm with a little honey, it is always a treat. In the Lot-et-Garonne and the Dordogne, thousands of trees are planted with the famous Noix du Périgord, which are processed into walnut kernels, oil, wine, liqueur, flour and sweet and savoury pies. Whether eaten fresh or dried, whole, caramelised or with chocolate, it gives every salad a delicious bite. The truffle, with its powerful fragrance and subtle aroma, arouses great enthusiasm among aficionados. Fresh or processed in truffle butter or grated on a plate of fresh pasta. Foie gras is the famous delicacy that can be found on every festive table, along with confit, duck breast, pâtés and stuffed goose necks. Whether you like it or not, it's hard to resist the delicious taste of foie gras in all its forms: roasted, boiled or semi-cooked.
Of course, you can eat very well outside. Monflanquin has a large number of restaurants in every price range. In July and August, in many places, also in Monflanquin, there are marchés gourmands: cosy evening markets where you can buy freshly prepared food that you can eat on the spot at long picnic tables while enjoying a bottle of wine and music.
When you talk about food in France, you also talk about drinking wine. While driving, you will come across many wine farms and wineries. Nice as a stopover to taste the wine and cheese of the region as you explore the area. Most wines from this region are red wines. A very famous wine from the region is the Malbec. Besides all the red wines, the production of white wine has also been on the rise lately. If you are in the neighbourhood of Bergerac, go to Château de Monbazillac, even if you are not a fan of dessert wines.
Activities
There is much to see and do in the Lot-et-Garonne. This department is known as one of the most popular holiday destinations in all of France. Besides the many lakes and rivers, there are many different sights to visit. The impressive castle of Bonaguil and the Château de Duras are definitely worth a visit. A visit to the impressive Basilique Notra Dame de Peyragude near Penne-d'Agenais is also not to be missed. This impressive basilica is located on a high rock above the town and is known for its Roman-Byzantine architecture. The cave of Lastournelle, near the town of Sainte-Colombe-de-Villeneuve is a great day out for the whole family!
In the surroundings of Monflanquin, there are many nice towns and villages, such as Bergerac, Monpazier, Pujols and Issigeac. Also the department's capital Agen has a beautiful historical centre, where you can stroll around for hours without getting bored!
The Lot-et-Garonne borders the Dordogne and all the beauty of that department is within easy reach. A visit to Bergerac should not be missed. Bergerac is a historic city and has a cosy centre where Cyrano proudly sticks his nose up. The Dordogne is also known for its many caves and castles. The area has a rich history, which is reflected in the large number of historical sites. One of the most famous caves is the cave of Lascaux, with its beautiful wall paintings. Caves like Gouffre de Proumeyssac, Grotte du Grand Roc or the caves of Maxange are also worth visiting. The castle of Castelnaud, the castle of Beynac and the castle of Biron are only a few examples of the many beautiful castles that can be found in this region. The castle of Castelnaud is also a museum where children have a lot of fun. What is very nice is a canoe trip on the Dordogne. Young and old can do this very well. There is a lot to see and in many places you can stop to eat, drink or rest and look around. Do not forget to visit the beautiful village of La Roque Gageac. One of the most beautiful villages in France, beautifully situated on the Dordogne river.
