The house
This small but well-kept cottage is located in the village of Villefranche-du-Périgord, in the south of the Dordogne.
On the ground floor is the bathroom with shower and toilet. Here you will also find the washing machine, a washing rack, two cupboards and a ladies' and gents' bicycle. There is also room here for the garden set, which you put in front of the door in nice weather to enjoy the beautiful view.
The stairs take you to the attractive first floor where there is a studio with kitchen, dining area, and sitting area with a luxurious double sofa bed (1.80 wide). From the French balcony you have great views over the valley, where you will also find the local swimming pool, which is open in July and August.
In the morning, you can be at the hot bakery around the corner for fresh croissants within 4 minutes, get cold cuts from the butcher on the market square and your shopping can be done in one of Villefranche's two supermarkets. For lunch, drinks and dinner, visit one of the restaurants.
If you want to cook for yourself, you can do so in the well-equipped kitchen with electric hob, combination microwave and electric oven. Of course, a coffee machine, kettle and all the necessary utensils, cutlery and crockery are also provided and even a travel hairdryer.
If you stay here in summer, the house is comfortably cool, as it is located on the north side of Villefranche. If it's a bit cooler, turn on the electric heater.
Although much has been renewed during renovation, there are still plenty of original details. One of these is the little window on the left, which in earlier times served as a sink. The old inhabitants of Villefranche threw their washing-up water right out into the street!

Activities
Founded in 1261 by Guillaume de Bagneux, Villefranche-du-Perigord is the oldest bastide - or fortified town - in Périgord. Stroll through the picturesque streets and discover the bastide's market hall, visit the 19th-century church or the Maison de la Châtaine, the local museum.
From the balcony, you can already see it: the municipal swimming pool of Villefranche-du-Perigord. Grab your towel, cross the street and 5 minutes later you're splashing in the cooling water. The pool is only open from 2-7pm in July and August.
From Villefranche, you can make great walks and pick chestnuts or wild mushrooms in autumn. Would you rather do something really active? Then visit the nearby Perigord Loisir Natur, where you can paintball, ride a quad bike or go treasure hunting.

The rental includes the use of bed linen and sheets but does not include a €40 cleaning fee.
The house is also available for longer-term rentals, e.g. to spend the winter in the Périgord.
