The house
Maison Vleminckx is finally a reality after years of searching. After several viewings, in several regions, we had almost given up hope.... until we came across our current home. It was love at first sight!
Maison Vleminckx has a great area with a huge driveway, a lovely enclosed garden, a modern house (for French standards) and a well-tended garden. Two months after the compromise, we already received the key and could immediately enjoy a wonderful summer.
The first floor is a studio with its own bedroom, bathroom, toilet and laundry room. This bedroom has French doors to the outside, access to the front garden, a double bed and storage space.
The floor above, due to the height difference this is actually the living floor, has the following layout:
Bedroom 1:
This room has a built-in wardrobe and two single beds. This room is adjacent to the terrace and overlooks the pool.
Bedroom 2:
This bedroom has a double bed, built-in wardrobe and overlooks the garden.
Bedroom 3:
This (children's) bedroom has a bunk bed (max 80kg) and also overlooks the back garden. There is also a single bed in this room.
Also on this floor we have a bathroom (bath and shower) and a separate toilet.
The second bathroom is next to a separate toilet and on the same floor as bedroom 4.
Living & kitchen
The living room and kitchen are separated by a glass wall. The kitchen contains a dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge incl. freezer, gas cooker and fully automatic coffee machine. The kitchen is equipped with all cooking and baking utensils.
Garden & pool
The spacious garden has a heated swimming pool. This pool has an automated roller shutter, automated salt system and child-friendly stairs. Next to the pool is a shower with hot and cold water.
The garden has a trampoline, picnic table, terrace, BBQ (coal-fired), clothesline, sun loungers and parasol. There is also an indoor and/or outdoor ping-pong table and a petanque court.
The entire garden is fenced and closed with an automated gate.
And.
The house is also fully equipped for children not only with a cool tree house, but also a trampoline, football, table tennis, Playstation and television. For toddlers, there are craft toys, games, books, a chalkboard and pool toys.

Restaurants, food & wine
From truffle to duck, Bergerac to a Merlot, nuts to nougat. The area is very culinary, with several Bib Gourmands named restaurants.
Activities
Saint-Martial-de-Nabirat is centrally located between Gourdon and Sarlat-la-Canéda. From canoeing to a hot-air balloon ride, from truffles to duck liver, from cave to panoramic views, from a simple pizza to haute cuisine. Here are some of the sights, villages and activities in the area.
The village has only 600 inhabitants and everyone knows each other. With the fewest inhabitants in the whole area, you can enjoy the peace and quiet, but if you want, you can easily get to different cities. Saint Martial has 2 huge campsites and is therefore well known among tourists.

Sarlat
Located in the Dordogne department, in the Aquitaine region. Sarlat is considered by many to be among the most beautiful villages in the whole of France. The official name of this town is Sarlat-la-Canéda.
This town boasts a rich history. Magnificent buildings and monuments with medieval origins can be admired. The small squares are home to several cosy restaurants where you can enjoy lunch in the medieval atmosphere.
A visit to this special town is definitely worthwhile. Walking through the medieval streets, you will understand why Sarlat is also called the 'Pearl of the Perigord'!
Sarlat's market is a must-see! Stroll, taste and enjoy the atmosphere!
La Roque-Gageac
Canoeing and stair-counting
Nestled against a cliff along the Dordogne River, lies an exotic piece of France. With its south-facing location, the village of La Roque-Gageac has an almost Mediterranean climate. As we arrive, we can already see from a distance the village's white and ochre-coloured facades in an elongated ribbon along the riverbank, with palm, banana and fig trees, agave, cactus and bamboo in between. Lovely for a morning stroll through!
As with many other destinations in the Dordogne, arrive early to get ahead of the big tourist flows. We visit the village during our tour on a morning in May, and luckily the crowds are not too bad then. From the car park at the edge of the village, we stroll along the river past the old houses, until we reach a steep street next to the Hôtel Belle Étoile. Here we walk uphill until we reach an exotic garden, which runs almost half the width of the village.

Salviac
Department LOT
Ideally located in the heart of Bouriane, the small country region between Cahors and Sarlat. Halfway between the Dordogne and Lot rivers and a stone's throw from the most beautiful tourist sites of the Lot and Périgord Noir. Discover its beautiful and varied nature, from oak-covered limestone plateaux to dense chestnut forests overgrown with ferns and mosses. Wander along the many small roads and winding paths - on foot, by bike (be careful!). Or take a refreshing dip in one of the many plan d'eaux, the mirror-smooth lakes. Be enchanted by all the impressions our stone heritage offers: beautiful houses with dovecotes (pigeonniers), shepherds' huts (gariottes), medieval churches and castles.
Have a beer at Chez les Filles, play tennis at Camping Salviac and a quick bite to eat at Chez Bikini.
Domme
Cave and views
Domme is an old town with a walled fortress, perched atop a mountain along the Dordogne River. The town is ranked among the most beautiful towns in France.
Today, it seems as if time has stood still. Indeed, the town has managed to preserve its historic character. To enter the town, one must pass through the large fortified gate. The gate is flanked by the two towers where the Templars were imprisoned. These towers are accessible to tourists. At the top of the hill on which Domme is located, there is a 180-degree view of the Dordogne River and the surrounding countryside. A traditional open market hall can be seen in the main square. During your visit to this medieval town, you will imagine yourself back in time.
