Sarlat
Sarlat is definitely worth a visit. The first artist came to Sarlat long ago because of its light-coloured building blocks and the resulting fine light. Over the years, Sarlat has developed into a mecca for art. On the streets you will find many artists, painters, caricature artists and musicians. When the sun goes down, the lights of restaurants and ice cream parlours turn on in Sarlat's typical alleys.
Limeuil
Limeuil is the village where the Dordogne and Vézere rivers meet. A nice place to swim. The village lies high up and is worth climbing. At the top is a "jardin panoramique", a landscaped garden with beautiful views over the Dordogne valley. There are a number of restaurants in Limeuil. Every Sunday evening in high season there is a party on the market square with various eateries and live music.
Canoeing
There are starting points for tours everywhere and with different distances,
The Dordogne is a bit busier, wider and more beautiful. The Vezere is quieter, narrower and faster.
Caves
The Dordogne province is famous for the origins of the world's oldest man. These people lived in caves, many of which can be visited. Les Eyzies has the most and largest caves.
Castles
Beynac along the Dordogne River is, among others, a nice village worth visiting for its market. In the Dordogne valley around Beynac there are many more castles.

Restaurants, food & wine
In Ste Alvere there is 1 restaurant DIX Restaurant. This is located opposite the church. The opening days do not know. Most restaurants open at 7pm.
There are also nice restaurants in Le Bugue, Lalinde, Limeuil, Bergerac and Sarlat.
In Tremolat is the area's only Michelin-starred restaurant. A table outside is highly recommended. Le Bistro de la Place is from the same owner, more affordable and I find a little more cosy. But wine-food wins the Vieux-Logis.
Also in Tremolat is Auberge Les Truffières. This is (regional) eat what the pot calls, cosy, nice place. You can request what you want to eat in advance when booking though.
Chez Julien in Paunat is also highly recommended.
