The gîte "La Banette, like our other gîte "Le Vennois", is part of the grounds of Le Moulin du Clapier, a maison de maître. Le Moulin de Clapier used to be a flour mill and even served as a field hospital during the Second World War. The grounds of Le Moulin du Clapier flow into farmlands full of sunflowers, rapeseed and other various crops. This provides beautiful views. From the back of the property, you can see the village of Sorges and can easily walk to it via a country road. Sorges is wonderfully central with easy access to beautiful villages in the area. Brantôme, Perigueux, Thiviers, Saint-Jean-de-Cole are some of the many noteworthy places to visit and beautiful starting points for walks or bicycle rides. Fans of Brocante and Vide Greniers can indulge themselves in the immediate vicinity of Sorges.
