The house
Gîte Pèr;
We welcome you to our gîte, we are open since summer 2023 after a hefty renovation.
Gîte Pèr is 31 m2 , a cosy cosy living room kitchen, kitchenette with 2 fixed induction hobs, furthermore the kitchen inventory is amply present, so are the kitchen linen. The separate spacious bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. Toilet paper is provided, and per person there is 1 small towel, 1 large towel and 1 flannel. This gîte is also equipped with a new double bed (2 x mattress 80 x 200), the bed is made for you on arrival. Attached to the gîte is a veranda of 6 m2, so you can sit outside even when it rains. A cosy terrace enclosed with sheep fence, equipped with a seat, 2 deck chairs and a bbq.
We have a lovely (saltwater) swimming pool of 5 x 10 metres. Sun loungers with cushions and parasols are at your disposal here. Please bring your own bath towels. For everyone's hygiene, and the preservation of our pool pump/filter, dogs are not allowed in the pool.
Cooking is a great hobby! That is why we offer a Table d'Hote once a week (3 courses incl carafe of wine, coffee and tea) for € 26.50 p.p.
When renting for several weeks, we clean the gîte for you in between, we also change the bedding and linen!
Your dog is more than welcome, we do not charge extra for this! Because of the space, 1 medium/large dog or 2 small dogs are suitable.
If you want to go out once without your dog, we offer a babysitting service for €6.50 per dog per half day (times to be discussed).
Our cottage is non-smoking! There is free WIFI available.
Our gîte is accessible from the car park via a slightly sloping path of 30 metres. This may be less accessible for the disabled. The gîte itself is at floor-level.

We live in the Perigord Noir. Between Paunat and St Alvère, surrounded by forests with hiking trails and small streams. Our gîtes are centrally located between Perigueux, Bergerac and Sarlat. There is also a direct connection from Rotterdam to Bergerac, the same goes for England with Bergerac. This also makes it easy to arrive by plane and rent a car via Bergerac airport.

We had a great time at the Femper gite. It is nicely decorated and with plenty of space for 2 adults. The location is perfect as there are several villages and places worth a visit around. Femke was really sweet and a great host. I recommend a 100%.

Restaurants, food & wine
Bergerac is known for its many vineyards and wine châteaux, many organise tours and tastings. . There are plenty of restaurants and terraces in the nearby area. In Paunat you will find the restaurant Chez Julien , a household name in the area and in Le Bugue you will find the lovely wine shop Julien de Savignac. In summer, many Marchè Gourmands are organised and what the Perigord Noir is also mainly known for are its black truffles. You'll find this truffle market in St Alvère between November and March.

Activities
We are just outside historic Paunat, a village which is on the Compostella route. So there is no shortage of footpaths here. A 10-minute drive away is the picturesque village of Limeuil. This is where the Dordogne and Vézere rivers meet. There are also restaurants and a cosy waterside terrace. From here you can book canoe trips and you can also enjoy the river from a beach (dogs allowed). From our house you can walk straight into the woods and the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for nice trips, markets, vide-greniers, castles, caves, canoe trips and in the summer months there is always a cosy Marché Gourmand somewhere. We are centrally located to the cities Bergerac, Sarlat and Perigieux, in short, plenty to do in this beautiful green area! Even in winter it is cosy here, with numerous Christmas markets, organised dinners and of course the famous Marché aux Truffles (truffle market).
Le Bugue is 15 to 20 minutes' drive away, where you will find all amenities such as restaurants, terraces, delicatessens and supermarkets. Nearest boulangerie is in St Alvère at a 10-minute drive.
