The house
La Douce is a sympathetic and comfortable cottage on domaine "la Penoterie" in the Dordogne. La Douce was completely renovated 2013 and equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, toilet, two bedrooms and a cosy living room.
The entrance is located on the charming courtyard of the wine farm that la Penoterie once was. At the rear, the gite has a private, sunny garden. There is one other gite at Domaine la Penoterie. This one is suitable for 2 - 4 people.
Gite la Douce has:

Domaine La Penoterie is situated in a beautiful spot in the Dordogne, between the towns Perigueux, Sarlat and Brive. La Penoterie is a former wine farm of which the main house dates from the 17th century. Together with the former stables and barns it forms a charming courtyard. One of the stables has been converted into a comfortable gite. Tastefully decorated and equipped with all comforts and a private, sunny garden. The grounds cover one hectare with grassland, nut and fruit trees and a vegetable garden. A nice place with beautiful views over the valley.
The domain is situated in the municipality Montignac. Montignac is a pleasant town on the river Vézère and known for the caves of Lascaux. Montignac offers all necessary facilities including a large Intermarché, several restaurants, terraces, attractions and opportunities for canoeing.
Forests, country roads, hills and green meadows characterise the rural environment. In the meadow of our neighbours, there is a beautiful herd of Limousin cows who, like us, look out over a beautiful valley with fields and woods. Here you will find nature, peace and quiet while facilities and trips are easily accessible.

Het was zalig in La Jolie bij Elly en Jan. We werden hartelijk ontvangen en het ontbrak ons aan niets: een prachtige gite met mooi uitzicht en privacy. We voelde ons er helemaal thuis. Genoten van de rust, en toch vlak bij leuke dorpjes met lekkere restaurants. Wandelen kan je er volop! Een echte aanrader!

Wij zijn twee weken in la Jolie geweest. Werkelijk een schitterende gite die van alle gemakken is voorzien. Ook de ruime tuin is heerlijk. Elly en Jan zijn erg gastvrij en hebben kosten noch moeite gespaard om het hun gasten naar de zin te maken. De locatie is landelijk en heerlijk rustig midden in de natuur. Bij warm weer is het zwembad ideaal om even af te koelen. Een toplocatie!

La Jolie is een echte aanrader. De gîte is erg mooi en van alle gemakken voorzien. Fijne slaapkamers met goede bedden en een goed uitgeruste keuken en zithoek. Er zijn verschillende fijne plekjes op de binnenplaats en in de tuin om te zitten met voldoende privacy. La Jolie is landelijk gelegen en we hebben dan ook erg genoten van de rust.
In de omgeving is genoeg te doen. Er zijn bijvoorbeeld veel mooie plaatsjes en kastelen die je kunt bezoeken. Jan en Elly zijn zeer gastvrij en hebben ons een aantal leuke tips gegeven voor uitstapjes en lekkere restaurants in de buurt van Montignac. Elly vertelde ons dat zij veel gasten hebben die meer dan eens op La Penoterie verblijven. Dat verbaast ons niets. Het is een heerlijke plek!

Montignac has a wide range of restaurants and eateries.
The offer is diverse; from a simple dish of the day or crêpe to a full meal is possible.
The wine region of the Dordogne is centred in Bergerac. Five quarters of an hour from la Penoterie you will find the famous wineries of the Bergerac wines.
Activities
La Penoterie is situated in the Perigord noir. A beautiful area for making walks. Exploring the region by car, motorbike or bicycle is also worthwhile. In our direct surroundings there are many possibilities for sporting activities such as canoeing on the Vézére (boarding in Montignac), golf, tennis (hard court in Montignac) and horse riding. In Thenon (12 km away) there is a climbing park and a swimming lake. Chateau de Losse in Montignac and the Chateau in Hautefort are also worth a visit. La-Roque St Christophe is an impressive cliff face along the Vézère with not only an impressive view of the river but also a look into ancient caves inhabited in prehistoric times.
Fans of markets can indulge themselves. In Montignac there is a large weekly market on Saturday and Wednesday. In the months of July and August, a maché nocturne, a food market, is held in Montignac on Monday evenings. On this market you can buy food from local producers and eat it at long tables. Also surrounding towns hold similar markets so that every day there is one to visit.
In the summer months, many flea and antique markets are held in our region. The atmosphere at these markets is cosy and friendly. We have a list of current markets available for you.
