The house
This self catering holiday home is situated in a restored part of a farmhouse dating from 1790. Whilst retaining the authentic "pierres" (stones), it is now transformed into a contemporary, luxury holiday home with all modern amenities.
EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED: sheets, duvets, duvet covers, pillows, pillowcases, bath towels, kitchen linen, electricity, firewood.
The living room is entered on the ground floor, with a cozy fireplace and underfloor heating. There is an open plan kitchen with all comfort needed. Dishwasher, oven, fridge with 3 star freezer, microwave oven, coffee maker, senseo machine, toaster, blender, hand blender, etc. Behind the kitchen is the bedroom (with fitted wardrobes) and bathroom en suite with shower, sink, toilet and washing machine. On the second floor you will find the other 2 bedrooms. One with a double bed of 160 x 200 and one with a bed of 90 X 200 and a child / baby bed. On this floor is the 2nd shared bathroom with bath, sink and toilet.
The swimming pool (10 x 4 m) is exclusively for the tenants of the gite and is heated from April to the end of October.
There are plenty of toys for the children: duplo, cars, tractors, board games, a wooden train track, ministeck, books etc.
For the little ones there is a Trip Trap high chair as well as a baby bath, a foldable baby bed and a stair gate.
Depending on the weather conditions, the swimming pool is open at least from April to October.

Het huis is perfect, van alles voorzien! Heerlijk groot zwembad met een heerlijke grote tuin.
Als kers op de taart zijn de eigenaren Erik en Marianne zo ontzettend lief, aardig en gezellig!

Restaurants, food & wine
The Perigord Noir is known for its delicious food. Traditionally it was a very poor area where people didn't waste anything .... for example ducks, of which almost everything was used. The "cou farci" is still a delicacy today. Dream of a delicious aperitif, followed by a "menu gastronomique" or simply opt for a delicious light salad. Then a short siesta followed by the "route de vin" of Bergerac. Visit a "chateau" surrounded by its beautiful vineyards and taste the grape juice with a small percentage. The choice of restaurants is overwhelming, but we also recommend a local auberge with grandma at the stove!
Activities
The (pre) historical history of the Perigord Noir starts at your front door ... the fairytale-like Commargue castle is at short distance... and the old castle where Josephine Baker raised her 11 adopted children in luxury is a half-hour drive away. But also the caves of Lascaux, Rouffignac, Fond de Gaume ... Chateaux de Castelnaud, the castle of Beynac ... the towns of La Rogue-gageac, Saint Genies, Montignac, Limeuil ... are at an easy distance. You will be spoilt for choice...
If you can get away from the private swimming pool, there is a nice lake with a sandy beach at 4 km away with plenty to do for children: pedalos, volleyball, a playground... They also have a snack bar with snacks and drinks.
A day of canoeing on the Dordogne or Vezère is not to be missed, varying from 7 to 20 km. Take a cool box with picnic and stop along one of the many pebble beaches and take a dip in the wonderful fresh water. Then on to enjoy breathtaking views such as Castelnaud Castle and the village of La Roque Gageac. At the end, a bus is waiting for you to take you back to your car.
For walkers, from the gite a nice walk of about 5 km starts, leading you through the woods along to the (abandoned) castle of Campagnac.
Mountain bikers have lots of tracks here. And also a quad ride through the woods is available locally.
