Traditional stone farmhouse with courtyard, pool and fenced garden set on 18 acres of land, 10 acres of Fields and 8 acres of woodland to explore. All private for guest only not shared. With an interior that has been tastefully modernised yet retained all of its old charm, you can relax on the terrace with a view, or cosy up in the comfortable living room in front of a roaring fire.
With all amenities and stunning french countryside and picture perfect villages within short driving distances you will not be short of things to do... if you can drag yourself away from the pool!

The southern Dordogne bordering on the departments of the Lot and the Lot et Garonne is full of quaint villages, stunning chateau, and a landscape that varies from dense woodland to rolling hills and dramatic cliffs.
In Villefranche du Perigord you will find a stunning market square with covered market area, friendly locals at the boulangeries and cafes, and a typical laid back way of life.
Within a 15 minute drive of the property is the Chateau de Bonaguil, a large castle perched on a hillside above a cute village. The castle dates back to the 13th century and regularly holds events, shows and festivals within its old walls. Look out for the ancient graffiti and the fireworks shows!
Other castles worth a visit, and within driving distance are the Chateau de Biron, Chateau de Castelnaud la Chapelle and the Chateau de Beynac.
Visit the Dordogne river to get your fill of canoeing or just picnicking on its banks. On a day that is simply too hot, why not visit one of the caves - choose from those filled with magnificent geological features, or one with prehistoric paintings. Either way the cool air will be very welcome..

Le Bartal Haut is a gem! We spent there an absolutely wonderful week in July 2023. The house is an old farmstead, very nicely modernized on the inside keeping its original charm. The house consists of a modern and spacious kitchen, dining room and living room with fireplace (not used in summer), upstairs complemented by a nice bathroom with shower, bathtub, toilet and sink, and 3 bedrooms (2 with double beds, 1 with 2 single beds). So, the house would easily sleep 6, but is probably best enjoyed with 4 persons (seating on the terrace, 4 loungers at the pool). Its outdoors are absolutely astonishing with the house and associated sheds set on a huge lot of meadows and forest. The house has a very nice private pool, gas barbecue and even a wood-fired pizza oven to enjoy! There are terraces on all sides (including a sheltered one next to the pizza oven) to pick you favorite dining or leisure spot
The house is set in rural France with nearest neighbors at approximately 150m distance up and down the gentle slope, making you feel completely off-grid. This also means that nearest groceries are at some distance (small super at Villefranche at 15min and nearest supermarché at Fumel at 25min), as well as the more touristic hotspots (although there is also plenty to do in the vicinity, notably the gourmet market in Loubejac and the weekly market in Monpazier).
Andy and Katy have been excellent hosts, making for a warm welcome and being easy to reach and fast to respond when required. We had a great time and would love to one day return to Le Bartal Haut!
