The house
At the front of the house you find a cozy private garden with easy to move sunbeds. There is a view of the fields and in the distance you can see the village of Le Buisson. A dirt track runs in front with rarely a walker with dog or car passing by. The garden faces southwest, with plenty of sun and shade due to large trees surrounding the garden. In the evening you may enjoy the beautful sunset over the hills.
Both bedrooms have a view of the spacious backyard and the banks of the river. The master bedroom has a king-size bed (180x200). The guestroom has two single beds. (90x210 and 90x200). It is possible to add a separate mattress for a fifth person. Due to the thick stone walls, the somewhat cooler nights and the convenient use of the shutters, it is possible to do without air conditioning on warm summer days. In consultation, you can place your own tent in the backyard for a maximum of two (extra) persons.
You enter the house through a front room with (extendable) dining table and wood stove. The living room has a spacious comfortable sitting area with TV and DVD player. Via a Google chromecast you have access to your own TV programs. Wi-Fi is available in the house.
The kitchen is fully equipped.

Oven/microwave
Induction hob
Espresso (Nespresso capsules) machine
Filter coffee machine
(Spacious)fridge/freezer combination

The bathroom is (for now) simple, equipped with a shower in a bath. The bathroom is expected to be renovated in the spring of 2025.
There is a separate toilet next to the bathroom.
At the back of the house you enter a completely different world: the steadily flowing river, the poplar forest, the old orchard. The total estate is about 2 acres. The entire outdoor area is available to guests, apart from the large 'grange' (farm barn) and the 'séchoir' (tobacco barn).
The guests enjoy complete privacy while staying in the main house. Enton, the owner (also caretaker, lawn mower etc.) stays as a neighbor in the separate barn with entrance and view facing away from the house towards the poplar forest. Helena joins him from mid-July; writes stories under the parasol and goes for walks in the area.

Bienvenue, welcome, welkom!
Looking for a holiday home in a quiet area? This is the right spot! You can relax all day in one of the many shady or sunny spots around the house. From this central location you can do all sorts of activities in the region.
La maison de Bellerive offers space for four people with two bedrooms and is fully equipped. Do you want to come with more people? Then you can place your own tent behind the house and use the facilities of the house. Your pets (maximum two) are welcome!
In the heart of the Dordogne valley!
The holiday home is located on the edge of the village Le Buisson in the Dordogne valley (municipality Le Buisson-de-Cadouin), between Bergerac, Sarlat and Perigeux. In Le Buisson you will find a bakery, cafe/restaurant, mini market and for enthusiasts a wine shop.
Characteristic villages nearby: Le Bugue, Cadouin, Limeul, Saint-Cyprien, Belvès, Monpazier, Beaumont-du-Périgord.
In a distance of 10-30 minutes you will find: a nice place to visit, local markets, good food, canoeing, concerts, castles, hikes, caves... and yes, we are of course biased, but we think the market of Le Buisson on Friday is the most pleasant in the region :).
Tranquility, nature, beautiful surrounding
The house is situated on an estate of over 2 hectares with a poplar forest. We are very fortunate to have a garden adjacent to the bank of the Dordogne river, in a Natura 2000 area.
Birdsongs surround you and deer find their way in the early morning through the grass. Even on warm days it is pleasant under the trees by the river. The entire outdoor area is available to guests.
Accessibility
By car: from Calais (channel tunnel) the distance is approximately 520 miles (840 km).
By train: Le Buisson has a railwaystation connecting to Bergerac, Bordeaux, Paris.
By plane: flights are available from UK to Bergerac. From there it is about 35 minutes by car.

Activities
Activities in the area
La maison de Bellerive is located at the adge of the village of Le Buisson (municipality of Le Buisson-de-Cadouin), in the middle of the so-called golden triangle Bergerac - Sarlat - Périgeux. We are surprised every time how much there is to experience within a 10-30-minute drive. We outline some possibilities here to give you a first idea.
Beautiful towns and villages
Limeuil (8 min drive), Belvès (12 min), Domme (38 min) all with the predicate Les plus beaux villages de France. Monpazier is the most beautiful fortified town in the Périgord. Saint Cyprien (15 min), a medieval town at the foot of the Dordogne with a pleasant square with a fountain. The church and abbey of Cadouin (10 min) are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Bergerac (35 min): visit the best patisserie Francois in the center. Sarlat is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in the Dordogne where many tourists come. Périgeux also has an old city center with a large museum.
Good food
Dining out depends on personal preferences and budget. We will offer you a number of suggestions on the spot.
Castles
The Dordogne is also called the valley of a thousand and one castles. To name a few: Castelnaud Castle and Beynac Castle.
Prehistoric caves
In Le Buisson we have the Grotte de Maxange, a little further le Gouffre de Proumeyssac (13 min drive) and at a 50 min drive the famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux in Montignac. In les Eyzies is the national prehistoric museum. Broquante and vide-greniersThen you are in the right place in Le Buisson, Le Bugue, Lalinde. Every Wednesday you can stroll through the streets of Beaumont-du-Périgord.
Concerts
In the summer there are various concerts and music festivals. For example, Molières has an annual outdoor jazz concert in an atmospheric ambiance. And Belvès organized a Bach festival in 2024.
Canoeing and kayaking
Canoeing and kayaking is possible on the Dordogne and the Vézère river (flows past nearby Le Bugue and further into the Dordogne). There is enough space to bring your own kayaks. In consultation, Enton can drive you to the start or pick you up at the finish location for a fee.
Swimming
Unfortunately it is too steep to enter the river directly from the garden, but the path next to the house takes you to a concrete staircase in a few minutes. There you can step into the fresh clear water of the Dordogne river to cool off. At the Pont Vique beach in Le Buisson and at Limeuil you can sunbathe the old-fashioned way, on the grass and easily walk into the river. In nearby Belvès there is a municipal swimming pool. Please note: In France you are not allowed in with boxer shorts. Trémolat has the Bassin Nautique where it is even possible to water ski. Just past Le Bugue towards Perigeux is a water fun park, this is one of the attractions of Jacquoupark.
Hiking and cycling
There are various walks possible in the area, for example around Le Bugue, along the river Vezere, at Saint Cyprien and Molieres. We are still exploring it all out ourselves. From Bergerac to Rocamadour there is a 180 km long distance walk via Cadouin above Le Buisson and Belvès.
From the house you can cycle through the countryside to the bridge (Pont Vique) for a beautiful trip towards Coux-et-Bigaroque.

Past Le Bugue towards Perigeux is Jacquoupark with 22 attractions including a water park and climbing park. Theme park du Bournat in Le Bugue (15 min)
