The house
This is 'Peaceful France' exclusively for adults. May Cottage is one of our four unique and private, self catering, high quality cottages, set in glorious Dordogne gardens with two swimming pools.
May Cottage is self-catering holiday gite just for adult couples, with a large, south facing, private veranda.
Created from one of the original stone farm buildings at Domaine de Leygue, May Cottage has a wealth of ceiling beams, providing a warmth and cosiness with cottage-style furnishings, and traditional French fabrics.
The living room enjoys windows on three aspects, offering a comfortable seating and dining area with tiled floors and wide French doors leading onto the veranda.
A wood crafted kitchen, with a full compliment of Villeroy Boch china, leads through to the beamed bedroom, which has a king size bed and plenty of cupboard space for storage. Directly off the bedroom is the en-suite bathroom, with shower.
One of the two swimming pools, the Pigeonnier Pool, is just a step away from May Cottage, and is seen from the kitchen and bderoom windows.
The seperate guests utility room, just a step away in the gardens, houses a washing machine, and refuse deposit, plus a good supply of books, DVDs and (if our chickens are laying well) our own organic eggs!
The wide south-facing private veranda has stunning panoramic views and is perfect for for both dining outside or just relaxing in the sun.
Fine linen and towels are for your use, with all fresh linen supplied per week of stay.
You can watch the suns daily journey from your large private terrace, facing the gardens of Domaine de Leygue, or snooze in the shade of the beautiful trees and glades. Wander the gardens, relax in a hammock, and swim in either pool, surrounded by peace and tranquility.
If more energetic pursuits are required, cycle the lanes with bicycles provided, canoe down the River Dordogne, and visit our mini gym here at Domaine de Leygue.

Domaine de Leygue (pronounced ‘Laig’) is an old Perigord farm. The main owners house and original stone barn lead you to the private guest area which has been transformed into a unique collection of four 1 bedroom, for 2 adults, self catering cottages, two miles from the nearby town of Lalinde on the Dordogne River.
The setting is over four acres of landscaped grounds amidst tranquil, beautiful countryside. Because of our high position there are marvellous uninterrupted views across the adjoining valley, fields and woods that abound with bird and wildlife including wild boar and a variety of deer
We have two swimming pools to choose from; the solar heated Pigeonnier Pool, and the Field Pool, overlooking fields and woods.

Schitterende locatie en goede uitvalsplek. Wifi was slecht, huisje oké, de veranda met uitzicht en ‘s avonds de reeën op het veld maakten wat binnen minder was goed. Helaas te koud om van de zwembaden gebruik te maken.

Wat een rust op Domaine de Leygue! Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk ontvangen door de eigenaren. Er stond een plateau met streekproduct hapjes in de koelkast klaar en een lekker flesje rode wijn uit de regio. De gites was schoon, knus en van alle gemakken voorzien. Helaas deed de vaatwasser het na 3 dagen niet meer en dit werd meteen opgepakt. Helaas duurde het nog 2 weken voordat de monteur tijd had om te komen (ook lekker Frans dus ;)). Dus ouderwets af moeten wassen, maar geen probleem. De omgeving en de rust maakte alles goed! Zwembad was prima en ook het buiten zitje was heerlijk en best privé. Voor herhaling vatbaar!!!

Restaurants, food & wine
There are many local cafes and restuarants to choose from, ranging from village based delights, to 'secret' Auberges, or head for Bergerac and surrounding towns for morning coffee and meals in a buzzing street environment.
Buy your provisions at the many colourful and lively markets, or eat out informally at the summer evening Marche Nocturnes, where local food is prepared for your enjoyment ....you just take your place setting (couvert) with you...plates, knife and fork and glasses for wine!

Activities
Domaine de Leygue is just for adults, so you can always be sure of a peaceful destination. At any one time, there will only be a maximum of 8 guests in the grounds, (we have 4 cottages, 2 adults per cottage), and so with a choice of two swimming pools, you may have a pool all to yourself! You can wander in the gardens, sky-gaze in the hammock, or snooze under the trees.
An abundance of wildlife is part of this stunning location, and our friendly Labrador, one inquisitive cat, and our own organic chickens may want to say hello also, as well as supplying eggs for our guests.
Domaine de Leygue is a 200yr old farm, and is situated in rolling green countryside just outside the pretty village of Bourniquel, near Lalinde on the River Dordogne, surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of farmers fields, woods, and a local herd of beautiful russet cattle.
Lalinde, 4km away, has all the shops and facilities you're likely to need plus there's an abundance of lovely restaurants in the nearby villages, with Bergerac town and airport only 25 minutes drive away. The pretty village of Molieres only a 5 minute drive, and is just one of many Bastide villages along quiet rural roads. There are numerous walking, cycling, driving routes all in the immediate vicinity, encompassing many villages and towns….we have bicycles here for guests use. It is the perfect location to visit the many morning markets, Marche Nocturnes, festivals, street fairs and more.
Domaine de Leygue also has a small gymnasium, well equipped with a cross trainer, rowing machine and free weights.

Our local supermarket is only 4kms away in Lalinde, a busy little town, with a great Thursday market, cafes and shops. Everything you need is not far away!
