The house
The house, which is over 250 years old, is detached. It is a traditional Périgord house, built of local stone like the rest of the village. It was completely renovated in 2006, with great respect for the original materials and style. It has all modern facilities. There is a large bedroom (approx. 30 m2) with a double bed (180 x 200 can be made into 2x90 on request) and a single bed (90x200), a dining/living room, a bathroom with shower and WC, a kitchenette and a mezzanine (mezzanine) with 2 single beds (80x200) that can easily be converted into a double bed.this area is considered to be a bedroom on the mezzanine level and is accessed via a mezzanine ladder reinforced by a small railing on each side of the ladder. On the mezzanine, there is a protective railing and a gate to secure access. The heating is electric, but there is also a fireplace and a wood-burning stove. There is television with satellite reception, DVD, hi-fi and wifi.
There are 3 covered terraces with tables, chairs and deckchairs. There is a barbecue and table tennis table in the large garden of over 1000 m2. The house and the surrounding area are very peaceful and ideal for a quiet and relaxing stay, but also for those who want to go walking, cycling, horse-riding, canoeing and exploring (numerous sites such as chateaux, villages and bastides, prehistoric sites, etc.).

Exhibition this summer at the Château de Biron! Part of the collection of the Maeght Foundation in Saint Paul de Vence will be exhibited at the Château, 800 m from the gîte! Come and discover the works of Miro, Braque, Picasso, Calder and many other artists in an extraordinary setting until the end of September!
The house is located in a beautiful medieval village, Biron, at the foot of the impressive Château de Biron (12th-19th century) and stands against a beautiful 12th century Romanesque church. Biron is a listed building and one of France's prestigious Grands Sites. Not far from Biron, you can discover very popular places like the Vézère valley, with its countless prehistoric caves such as Lascaux, Font de Gaume, Cap Blanc and Rouffinac. You can also visit impressive châteaux such as Beynac, Castelnaud and Bonnaguil. Finally, you can stroll through pretty medieval towns such as Périgueux, Bergerac, Sarlat, Dordogne, Isssigeac and Belvès. The house is surrounded by corn and wheat fields and forests. The surrounding area exudes calm and serenity. Nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling, horse-riding, water sports, fishing and gastronomic discoveries.
The owners live on site, but there is more than enough privacy for both houses.

Een heerlijke locatie om echt tot rust te komen. Prachtig authentiek gerestaureerd en van alle gemakken voorzien. Gastvrije eigenaren, echt een plaats van waaruit je prachtig de omgeving kan bekijken, maar ook heerlijk bij de gites te blijven met een boek.
Restaurants, food & wine
The Dordogne and Périgord are famous for their gastronomy, with specialities such as black truffles, foie gras, confit, ceps, strawberries, walnuts and, of course, wine.
The Bergerac vineyards are around 30km away, and you can taste and buy these famous wines direct from the producers. Renowned markets selling the best of local produce are held weekly in Issigeac, Bergerac, Sarlat and Peigueux. Around Biron you will find excellent restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
Activities
Nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling and horse-riding.
1.5 km away there is an organic wine grower who produces excellent red, white and rosé wines.
There is a grocer's shop 500 m from the gite which sells fresh bread and croissants and pains au chocolat every morning. You'll find everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to regional produce.
There is a restaurant and bar with a large terrace, open every day from April to November, good food.
The Château de Biron is 600 m from our gîte and can be visited. Every year, exhibitions of contemporary art and concerts are organised.
There are several golf courses close to the gîte and the river Dordogne is not far away for swimming or canoeing (20km).

If an extra person comes to stay (sleep) during your stay, please let us know as soon as possible. A supplement of 15€ per person per day will be charged (sheets are provided).
