Reviews
Frans en Jeanet Baak from Huis ter Heide,
Huub Ramakers from Lochem,
Hans en Riki Telgen from Heerenveen,
Restaurants, food & wine
The Périgord is famous for its cuisine: truffles, confit de canard, foie gras, walnuts, honey... On the weekly markets you will find many delicious local products.
In addition, wine in this region is of great importance and of excellent quality. If you like sweet wines, the world-famous Monbazzillac is a must (Château Monbazzillac is 12 km from the gîte). An excellent combination with paté, foie gras or blue cheese.
Furthermore, L'Aubergerac is only a few kilometres away from the Pécharmant-region: beautiful, firm wines that are not inferior to the more famous Bordeaux wines.
And, of course, not forgetting the wines of Château Puypezac, the grapevines on which you can look out from the garden. Frederic, the owner, makes, among other things, a very special white Rosette.
In the city of Bergerac you will find a variety of cosy terraces and good restaurants.
Activities
The city of Bergerac is situated in the Périgord region, in the southeast of the Dordogne. The area practically borders on the Lot as well as the Lot et Garonne, 2 other departments.
In the vicinity of L'Aubergerac is much to see and do: both in the city of Bergerac as in almost all the surrounding villages and towns you will find the wonderful French weekly markets with many products of the local farmers: vegetables, fruits, honey, foie gras, truffles, walnuts....
In addition, within a radius of 50 to over 100 km, you will find a variety of attractions such as: the famous caves of Lascaux (80 km) and Maxange (45 km), numerous castles, wine chateaus, typical French villages with terraces under the plane trees, brocante markets and shops, beautifully landscaped gardens and even a sturgeon farm where caviar is produced. And not to forget the beautiful cities of Bordeaux, Perigueux and Sarlat-la-Canéda.
On the website you will find a list of interesting places with all kinds of information, sights and photos.
And are you looking for a different challenge in between? In the immediate vicinity you can:
canoeing on the Dordogne
walking
cycling
horse riding
quad biking
playing golf at 20 to 30 km (Château des Vigiers 3 x 9 holes; Château Les Merles 9 holes; St. Méard 9 holes)
or following a wine route (starting and ending at our 2 neighbours: Château Puypezat and Château du Rooy)
- Near hiking trails
