The house
THORNYBRUSH is a lovely 4 bedroom gite with an open dining room / living room / kitchen on the ground floor with all necessary amenities as well as a master double bedroom with direct access to the terrace and an en-suite WC and shower room.. On the 2nd floor you will find 3 further bedrooms (one double & two twin rooms) as well as a bathroom with shower and bath and a separate WC. In the large grounds is a beautiful, secure, shared swimming pool (10 x 5m), barn with games, table tennis, and plenty of space for ball / racquet sports or just relaxing. Relaxed owners live privately on site but are always available if needed. We welcome every group with a hamper of essentials to help you move in and start relaxing straight away instead of running off to the supermarket. Hamper contents comprises of:- olive oil, herbs, salt & pepper, Nespresso pods, tea bags, sugar cubes, dishwasher tablets and some liquid refreshment as well as flowers from our garden - depending upon the season.

Logis du Tertre is found 3 kms from the delightful, little town of Mauzé sur le Mignon and also within very easy driving distance of Surgeres and Niort. An easy, flat bike ride into Mauzé brings you to a couple of restaurants, an Intermarché, a Lidl, post office, Tabac and a couple of Boulangeries where the friendly locals will serve you with a genuine smile.
Further afield is the town of Surgeres with its medieval ramparts, lively twice-weekly market and loads of bars/restaurants as well as out-of-town shopping. To the north-east you can reach the bustling market town of Niort in less than half an hour with its chateau, cinema, shops and bistro culture. For lovers of the seaside drive 30-40 minutes West and you will reach the Charente-maritime coast where you can visit La Rochelle, Rochefort, Il de Ré and the Ile d'Oleron as well as many others. our particular favourite is the seaside town of Chatelaillon Plage with its relaxed, seaside chic, casino and beach bars.

Wat hebben we een fantastische tijd gehad! Een echte aanrader. Het contact met Carol verliep vlekkeloos! Het gebouw is netjes en koel, met een prachtige grote tuin met zwembad. Ook in de omgeving is er vanalles te bezoeken. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug!
Activities
We are based ~30/40 minutes from the Atlantic coast with sandy beaches and some surf areas. Nearby is the famous Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) where you can canoe or kayak.

Additional price info and offers
To keep your stay competitively priced there is no mandatory cleaning charge for 2024. Instead, we ask that our guests leave the gîte exactly how they found it. To help this we have extended our check-out time to 11h00 to give you more time. We will also provide suitable cleaning materials. Should you wish an end of stay clean this is available for 80€, paid locally.
