The house
Take a break with us (we live on site) between the Marais Poitevin and the Gâtine in a 3-gîte farmhouse in the heart of the countryside. You can relax by the shared swimming pool on a sunny day, or set off on foot or by bike along the surrounding paths. Rainwater is used to flush the toilets, electricity is generated by the sun, some of the furniture and crockery comes from recycling centres, and much more to limit our footprint.
On the ground floor, you'll find a pleasant open-plan living area with a fitted kitchen and sitting area. There is also a master suite on the lower ground floor. Upstairs, a corridor leads to 2 bedrooms and a bathroom/toilet. Outside, there's a lovely terrace (with plancha) where you can enjoy your meals on sunny days and take advantage of the calm of the countryside. This gîte is located at the back of the house (west-facing) and is therefore more independent.
Other areas are available for meals or relaxing in the shade of the lime tree.

The gîtes are located in a small hamlet in the village of Ardin, consisting of 2 houses not far from the River Autize. All around are fields and footpaths along the river or across the fields to the village centre.

Restaurants, food & wine
Nearby are the Fiefs Vendéens, a small vineyard in the Vendée producing red, rosé and white wines. Good restaurants can be found mainly in Niort and in the Marais Poitevin. The restaurant in the village of Ardin serves good daily specials and has a pleasant terrace.
Activities
There are some great walks along the Autize river, the Ardin fountains and wash-houses walk and the Terra Aventura game. Visit the gâtine and its enchanting landscapes and villages, discover the Marais Poitevin by boat or bike, visit Niort, its magnificent covered market and its local producers. The Puy du Fou is just an hour's drive away, as is the Futuroscope in Poitiers. Finally, spend a day relaxing by the ocean (the beaches of the Vendée are only 1h15 away).
