The house
Take a break with us (we live on site) between the Marais Poitevin and the Gâtine in a 3-gîte farmhouse in the heart of the countryside. You can relax by the shared swimming pool (from summer 2024) or go for a walk along the surrounding paths. Rainwater is used to flush the toilets, electricity is generated by the sun, some of the furniture and crockery comes from recycling centres, and much more to limit our footprint.
The gîte comprises a large living room with fitted kitchen, sitting area and dining area on the ground floor. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a separate toilet. Outside, a terrace with table, chairs and parasol.
There is also a communal swimming pool to enjoy on sunny days (from summer 2024), as well as other areas for dining (plancha available) or relaxing in the shade.
There's also an organic herb garden for you to enjoy with your meals and aperitifs!

The gîtes are in a hamlet of 2 houses, not far from the River Autize. There are footpaths that take you along the river or to the centre of the village, as well as fountains and wash-houses in the village.

Visited August 24th, English couple and two teenage sons. Christophe and Fred’s place is lovely, a real find. Lovely layout, tastefully decorated with vintage pieces and modern, in a beautiful building with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
There is a lovely new pool, plenty of places to sit, read and eat including a large rustic barn for larger groups, all surrounded by trees and nice walks on the doorstep. They have a large pottager in the grounds and keep chickens. It’s really the most relaxing setting in a small village, in the beautiful French countryside
There is a supermarket about 5 minutes by car and the city of Niort is around 30min drive where there are lots of nice restaurants and activities. One of local villages ? Has a couple of brocantes and plenty of cafes\restaurants and boutique shops.
Christophe and Fred are usually around to ask questions if needed and Christophe was extremely helpful in offering information about the area. The cats are a real pleasure and very friendly and came over to see us whenever we were around.
If you’re looking for an action packed holiday then this probably isn’t the place for you (but plenty of walking/cycling routes) but if you want to relax then this definitely is the place. We loved this gite and the photos really don’t do it justice. We will definitely return.

Niedawno miałam przyjemność odwiedzić to bajeczne miejsce i złego słowa nie mogę powiedzieć na jego temat! Właściciele sa absolutnie niesamowici, dbaja o to, aby każdy gość czuł się mile widziany i jak w domu. Atmosfera jest niezwykle cicha i spokojna, idealna na relaksujący wypoczynek. Otoczony piękną przyrodą jest prawdziwą odskocznią od zgiełku dnia codziennego. A jedzenie? Po prostu pyszne! Francuska kuchnia rolnicza to rozkosz dla podniebienia. Byłam pod takim wrażeniem, że dodałam to miejsce do swojej listy ulubionych miejsc do odwiedzenia! Niezależnie od tego, czy szukasz spokojnego odosobnienia, czy kulinarnej przygody, ten ukryty klejnot ma wszystko. Gorąco polecam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Restaurants, food & wine
The Fiefs Vendéens is a very small vineyard in the Vendée, producing white, red and rosé wines. The best restaurants are mainly to be found in Niort (20 minutes away) or in the Marais Poitevin (20 minutes away). However, the village restaurant offers good daily specials, which you can enjoy on its pleasant shaded terrace.
Activities
There are some great walks along the Autize river, the Ardin fountains and wash-houses walk and the Terra Aventura game. Visit the gâtine and its enchanting landscapes and villages, discover the Marais Poitevin by boat or bike, visit Niort, its magnificent covered market and its local producers. The Puy du Fou is just an hour's drive away, as is the Futuroscope in Poitiers. Finally, spend a day relaxing by the ocean (the beaches of the Vendée are only 1h15 away).
