The house
Gite Laine is a 6-bed cottage in the middle of the wooded valley of Gioux on the banks of the river La Gioune. An enchanting fairytale setting, perfect for an idyllic holiday in the heart of France's beautiful Limousin region. The beautiful gardens and wooded grounds, the swimming pool and the river provide peace and relaxation.
The living room has a cosy wood-burning stove, the kitchen is separated from the living and dining area by a small low stone wall and is fully equipped with a freestanding gas cooker, gas oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Crockery, cutlery and glasses are provided. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms (2 rooms with double bed, 1 room with 2x single bed). The bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower. The beds are made upon arrival so you can start enjoying your holiday right away. Of course, the house has WIFI. Your friendly four-legged friend is welcome (after consultation).

Aubusson, a beautiful medieval town, is about 18 km north of the Moulin about a 20-minute drive away. The town is steeped in history and known for its tapestries and carpets - from the Middle Ages to as recent as the hanging tapestry made for the 2000 Olympics. Aubusson has a good selection of restaurants for all tastes and budgets, shops, including speciality shops, a theatre and a cinema. Market morning here is on a Saturday. Lake Vassivière (Lac du Vassivière) is about 25 km west of the Moulin. It is one of the largest lakes in France. The beautiful sandy beaches on this freshwater lake are perfect for sunbathing or, for the more active, windsurfing, canoeing, water-skiing and sailing.
Just an hour away, and in the heart of the central massif, is the spa and ski resort of Mont Dore. The highest point of the mountain range is Puy de Sancy at almost 1900 metres. During the ski season, there are about 30 slopes available for all levels, including 6 red and 2 black runs.

Voor de tweede keer verbleven we in deze mooie gite! Zo prachtig gelegen, midden in de natuur, echt heel mooi. Alles was super schoon en fijn. Heerlijk& uitgebreid ontbijt en Remco en Kathelijne zijn erg prettig als gastheer en-vrouw. We hopen hier vaker te komen!

Een comfortabele gîte op een prachtige locatie én gastvrije verhuurders ! De woning is gezellig en compleet ingericht, een fijne houtkachel voor de avonden, daarnaast is er elektrische verwarming. Kookliefhebbers kunnen hier hun hart ophalen, goed uitgeruste keuken met gasfornuis met oven en een magnetron. De locatie verdient een extra compliment, de oude wolmolen ligt in een prachtig rivierdal. Ongerepte natuur en zelfs in maart heel mooi door de mossen die op de stenen en bomen groeien en het onstuimige riviertje en dito watervalletjes. Wandelen direct vanuit de gîte, langs het riviertje en/of voor de liefhebber een klim naar het hoger gelegen dorp, maar ook genoeg wandelroutes in de omgeving. Mijn hond waande zich (ook) in het paradijs, mede door zijn speelkameraadje Ernie ;) Een echte aanrader voor liefhebbers van rust en natuurschoon ! Boodschappen en voorzieningen op 10 min. in Felletin of iets verder rijden in Aubusson. Uitstekende wifi in en rond de gîte, geen GPS in het dal. De verhuurders zijn vriendelijk en servicegericht, maar geven de huurders ook alle privacy. Kortom, hartelijk dank voor een geweldig verblijf, Kathelijne en Remco !
Restaurants, food & wine
The nearest town of Felletin is about 10 minutes away by car. Felletin has a pretty, tree-lined square surrounded by cafés, bars and shops. On Friday mornings, there is a market in the central square and the surrounding cobbled streets. Farm produce, cheeses, plants, baskets and jewellery are available from the many stalls there in summer. It is a very popular market with local French people as well as foreign residents and visitors. Finish your round of the market at the wine bar where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine while people-watching
Activities
Le Moulin de Sansonneche in the commune of Gioux is about 18 km south of Aubusson, which is famous for its tapestries and which were declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2009. The pretty market town of Felletin with its cobbled streets is the nearest town and is less than 10 minutes' drive away. Felletin has a typical French square lined by several cafés with outdoor seating, restaurants, bars and shops. The lively market on Friday mornings is widely known and well worth a visit.
Just over an hour's drive away is the ski village of Mont Dore with cosy restaurants and quaint shops. There is 41km of slopes and here you ski on old volcanoes. The area is not large but is fun to visit for a day.
