The house
The homeliness of a Chambres d'Hôtes combined with the privacy of a gîte.
Les Cavaleries is a characteristic house from probably the 17th or 18th century, full of history. It is said that Napoleon's soldiers still lived here. We still have to find out if this is true. The stone house still has very authentic elements such as sinks, alcoves and foxholes. There is also an old bread oven near the house, which used to be used by all the villagers. An old staircase leads to your private terrace, where you can enjoy the sunrise in the morning and an impressive starry sky in the evening. You enter your flat in a hallway, where you will find an extra toilet. On this floor is the cosy living room, with open-plan kitchen and wood-burning stove. The hall also contains the stairs to the second floor. On this floor there is a spacious renovated bright double bedroom with stunning views. On this floor is also the bathroom with shower and toilet.
The large garden is communal, but if you want more privacy, there are plenty of seats to choose from, both shaded and sunny. There is also a sunny conservatory in the garden accessible to guests. The apartment does not have its own washing machine, but you can always ask us to do some laundry.

Surroundings
In the hills between the picturesque Beaulieu sur Dordogne and the village Nonards. From the house you walk straight into the woods. The environment is very beautiful with many medieval villages in the immediate vicinity, within walking and cycling distance. The famous tourist destinations are accessible by car. In the immediate vicinity you will find for example 6 villages on the list of most beautiful villages of France. There are several places of pilgrimage within driving distance such as the most beautifully situated Rocamadour. Also the amazing caves of Padirac are 35 minutes away.
We have been living in this region for a while now and we keep discovering new things. We have come to the conclusion that we find this area, Vallee de Dordogne in the south of the Correze and north of the Lot, the most beautiful area of France. Most of our visitors very much agree.

Reviews
Harrie en Sippie from Groningen,

Further remarks
The surroundings are very beautiful to explore by bicycle. The routes are quite tough. Riding flat is almost impossible. Whichever way you cycle, it is always beautiful. If you want to walk a part of the GR route or Compostella route, you can. If requested, we bring you to the starting point and pick you up later at your destination.
