The house
The homeliness of a Chambres d'Hôtes combined with the privacy of a gîte.
Les Cavaleries is a characteristic house from probably the 17th or 18th century, full of history. It is said that Napoleon's soldiers still lived here. Whether this is true, we still have to find out. The stone house still has very authentic elements such as sinks, niches and foxholes. There is also an old bread oven near the house, which used to be used by all the villagers. The Les Cavaleries flat is on the ground floor of the house, in the former cave. The narrow gunwales have been transformed into stained-glass windows. The kitchen is simple but fully equipped and very practical. The bedroom is characteristic and very restful. At the front of the flat is a private seat, at the back of the flat is a spacious communal garden, with beautiful views and numerous seats, both in the sun and in the shade and a sunny conservatory!
The flat itself does not have a washing machine, but you may always ask us to do your laundry.

Les Cavaleries is situated at the end of a dead-end road. We share the road with 1 neighbour. From the garden you have a fantastic view of the hills and every morning you see the mist clouds hanging over the Dordogne. Fortunately they often lift quickly and the sun comes out. From the flat you walk straight into the woods. Through forest paths, country roads and hamlets you walk in about 1,5 hour to the lively Beaulieu sur Dordogne. At the top of the forest path you can also walk in the other direction towards small picturesque villages and eventually end up in Curemonte for lunch.

Mijn man en ik verbleven twee weken in het beneden appartement van dit heerlijke oude Franse huis met dikke muren (dus koel in de zomer). Het appartement is schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. De gezamenlijke tuin is groot en heeft een prachtig uitzicht. De hele omgeving nodigt uit tot wandelen, tochtjes maken naar oude dorpjes, markten bezoeken en heerlijk uit eten gaan.
Gastheer en gastvrouw, John en Maja, zijn aller hartelijkst en dragen graag ideeën aan voor uitstapjes.John from Eersel,
Uitzicht : Super mooie doorkijk vanaf de achtertuin en terras over de groene dalen.
Natuur: zeer grote diversiteit aan vogels en veel wild. Neem zeker de verrekijker en wandelschoenen mee!
Inrichting : Landelijk Frans warm en gezellig, veel boeken en spellen.
Comfort : Veel ruimte, ruime keuken compleet met apparatuur, zeer goede bedden en een heerlijk goede douche. Binnenklimaat aangenaam koel t.o.v. buitentemperatuur. Wij zaten in het mooie tuinappartement. Het overdekte buitenterras, barretje met houtkachel erg gezellig. Heerlijk ontspannen voor een echt Frankrijk-gevoel, weg van de drukke bewoonde wereld.
Gastvrijheid: De betrokken gastvrijheid en warme vriendelijkheid van de uitbaters Maja & John, geven je alle ruimte en rust die je maar wenst. Ze staan altijd voor je klaar en dringen zich absoluut niet op. Ze denken met je mee. Ze weten erg veel van de omgeving geven je daardoor ook erg goede tips, maatwerk dus. Daarnaast genoten van een heerlijk compleet ontbijt en een overheerlijke warme maaltijd.
Bereikbaarheid:
- Uitvalsbasis voor allerlei bezienswaardigheden en activiteiten.
- Ideale tussenstop, voor de doorreis. Zowel vanuit het noorden, als het zuiden of overdwars.
Hygiene: Top!
