The house
La Catalpa is named after the small Catalpa tree in the garden! It is a lovely little barn conversion, in a remarkable location, and a deceptive amount of space. Full of character, and just a few minutes' walk across the road to all the facilities of Longeveau, it is the perfect holiday home!
Inside, an open-plan living/dining room and kitchen, offer a comfortable living space, with all the facilities you need during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher, washing machine and all the utensils you need for your holiday banquets! The living room has TV (with English Sky Box), wifi and window views to die for!
Downstairs, the master bedroom (with en-suite) has double French doors opening onto the sun-drenched terrace, which opens onto the pool. Upstairs, there are two more bedrooms (with double or twin beds), both with en-suite bathrooms. The view from the upper floor is even more spectacular, overlooking the Dordogne in the distance....!
The large garden offers plenty of space to play. The terrace has a BBQ and outdoor dining for the long summer days. There is a lovely heated swimming pool (7m x 4m x 1.40m) with sun loungers and stunning views. Perfect for a refreshing dip, relaxing swim or play in the pool. Both the garden and the pool are secured to ensure the little ones stay safe.
Le Catalpa is full of character, retaining many of the original oak beams, stone walls and windows of the original barn. A truly unforgettable holiday home!

'Manoir de Longeveau' is a former cognac estate, beautifully renovated into an ideal place for relaxation, holidays and events. Longeveau's facilities include its own 9-hole golf course, several tennis courts and swimming pools, a clubhouse/bar and a restaurant. The estate is set in a breathtaking valley surrounded by rolling countryside and named by Michelin as "a place of outstanding beauty". Longeveau is located in Pillac on the Charente/Dordogne border in south-west France, between the villages of Saint Sevérin and picturesque Aubeterre-sur-Dronne. A 45-minute drive from Angoulême (train station+TGV stop) and Périgueux and around 1h30 from Bergerac and Bordeaux (airports).

Activities
The region is known for its wonderful climate with plenty of sunshine in summer, rolling hills, friendly atmosphere and rich history. The regional cuisine is delicious and the locals very welcoming. The area is also a paradise for wine lovers.
The Longeveau estate is located on the border of the Charente and Dordogne rivers in the countryside of south-west France. There is plenty to see and do in the nearby villages. The picturesque village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, is just a short bike ride away. A walk through the winding streets to the 12th century monolithic church (carved entirely in the rocks!), a drink on the village square surrounded by shops and eateries or a canoe trip on the river Dronne, are some examples of the activities in and around Aubeterre.
About 15-20 minutes' drive away, are the towns of Chalais and Riberac which include several supermarkets and a large regional weekly market on Monday and Friday mornings respectively. Some 45 minutes' drive away, are the towns of Angoulême and Périgueux where you will find more fashionable shopping in a beautiful historical setting. Brantôme, nicknamed the 'Venice of the Périgord', is well worth a visit and about as far away.
Also within easy reach are cities such as St Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux, all renowned for their wines, cognac and liqueurs and well worth a visit. A little further from Bordeaux are the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic coast with fantastic holiday resorts for a day trip, such as the Cap Ferret peninsula or the town of Arcachon.
Local activities include hiking, sight seeing, mini-golf, fishing, cycling, canoeing or even jet-skiing, quad biking, horse riding or a day touring in a 2CV. Wine tasting is, of course, a distinguished part of the French experience.
Various local festivals, celebrations and fireworks take place in nearby villages and towns. These are open to all ages and usually take place from June to September.
There is also plenty to do for the family with young children, from mini-golf, horse riding, a climbing course through the trees or a visit to an adventure park to a day trip to popular theme parks such as Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futurescope.
Longeveau boasts a large number of restaurants in the area. From cosy (food) pubs to fine dining at a high culinary level.

Note: for some holiday homes, Friday is the changeover day, where for others Saturday is the standard. In spring and autumn, we can be more flexible with the arrival day and length of your stay. In the winter months, we also offer the possibility of renting for several months.
