The house is located near the sandy beach of Marennes-Plage (50m), an artificially built bathing resort with seawater that is refreshed and tested every day. With no tides and no waves, it is ideal for small children to splash around in,a swim or just paddle quietly. The Atlantic Ocean is just behind the Marennes basin.
There is a water sports club for windsurfing,SUP and wing-foil, there is also an inflatable play structure in high season and beach lifeguards are available.
Marennes-Plage is ideally situated to visit this beautiful region, on one side you have ile d'Oleron -Rochefort -La Rochelle -Ile de Ré with several monuments, fort boyard, boat trips, cycling routes, nature walks, beaches etc
More to the south you have the tourist attractions of La Tremblade, Ronce -les-Bains, La Palmyre, Saint-Palais-sur-mer, Royan where you can enjoy many markets, surf beaches, zoo, funfair, quads, etc.

The Charente-Maritime is best known for its excellent oysters and mussels (not the same kind as in the Netherlands) fish and seafood from the Atlantic Ocean. At 5min from the house is a daily martk in La Tremblade where you can get all this fresh, also you can go to the local oyster farmers, get fresh oysters and gambas
There are numerous typical restaurants in the region where you can eat all this with a glass of pineau de Charente a white Charente wine and a drink of Cognac
