We, Jean and Ellen, welcome you to one of our 3 attractive and comfortable holiday homes, situated in the beautiful Charente-Maritime. !!! The sun-drenched Charente-Maritime has something to offer for every holidaymaker. It has a special mix of culture, nature, beautiful sights and the sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. This region on the Gironde River has a wonderful climate with an average of more than 2600 hours of sunshine per year and is one of the most pleasant in France. Our small holiday complex is an old farm and is located on the outskirts of the hamlet of Le Petit Chenac and is beautifully situated on top of a hill, giving a spectacular view of the village of Chenac, the Gironde and the surrounding countryside and vineyards. Close by you can visit different wine domains. Taste and enjoy the famous regional products, such as Cognac and Pineau des Charentes. 800 metres from our house there is the small fishing port of Saint-Seurin-D’Uzet, which was once a major producer of caviar. About 5 minutes further on is Talmont-sur-Gironde, again with a small harbour. It is an old fortified village, which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. Each holiday home has its own entrance with private terrace and is equipped with a stylish bathroom and kitchen. For the cyclists among us there is ample provision to store the (electric) bicycle safely and, if necessary, to recharge. One of the many cycling and hiking trails of this region, all of which are clearly marked, runs alongside our house. Our garden has several terraces on which you can relax, read or just enjoy nature and the peaceful rural environment. In addition, there is a play area, consisting of swings, slide, etc and a swimming pool, wonderful to take a refreshing dip!

We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad in Le Petit Chenac. We hadden een mooi, efficiënt en schone ingericht gite. Alles wat we nodig hadden was aanwezig. Daarnaast een lekker terras, grote tuin, prachtig uitzicht. Heerlijk rustig!! En wat ik vooral wil noemen is de gastvrijheid van de eigenaren Ellen en Jean. Je kon met alle vragen bij hen terecht en ze hadden veel tips voor leuke uitjes en goede restaurants. Echt een aanrader. Van ons krijgt deze plek een 10!

Restaurants, food & wine
It goes without saying that the sea and river provide delicious and healthy food, of which Mouclade Charentaise is a must. This is a dish of Bouchot mussels from the region with saffron, butter and the local drink Pineau de Charentes. But don't miss the famous and delicious oysters of Marennes and de Pineau de Charentes....
Activities
Characteristic of this area is the tranquillity, the idyllic sandy beaches (12 km) and charming fishing villages. The surroundings are beautiful and have much to offer. There are also many restaurants in the vicinity.
A plus point is that the Plus Beaux Village de France; Talmont-sur-Gironde is around the corner. A beautiful romantic town that you should definitely visit when you are here.
The wide variety of landscapes, the vineyards, sunflowers and wealth of cultural heritage make it a very attractive area for cycling and walking.
You can also visit beautiful old cities such as Cognac and Bordeaux, or an archaeological site in Barzan, less than 3.5 km away.
In addition, you can visit several wine estates and taste the famous regional products, such as the Cognac and the Pineau des Charentes.

Further remarks
We are (dutch) Jean and Ellen and have lived since April 2017 in southwest France, between the vineyards and the Atlantic Ocean. We are the proud owners of a an old farm, which is more than 300 years old, that we have developed into 3 charming holiday apartments which are available on a self-catering or bed and breakfast basis.
Our house is situated on top of a hill, on the edge of the hamlet of Le Petit Chenac. Moreover, it has fantastic views of the village of Chenac and the river Gironde. It is the ideal place for the holidaymaker. Peace and quiet when you want it but at the same time so much to see and explore in the surrounding area.
We would like to introduce you to our beautiful, but for many, still unknown region of the Charente-Maritime.
