The house
Welcome to our holiday home in the beautiful rolling hills of Normandy, located on the border of the Calvados region and La Manche. Our 31-hectare estate offers a peaceful and rural setting, ideal for a relaxing holiday. Enjoy a refreshing dip in our heated swimming pool or relax in one of our two luxurious and spacious gites. Discover the beautiful surroundings of Calvados and La Manche, its rich culture and history, French cuisine and many activities and attractions in one of the most beautiful locations in Normandy.
Our gîte is a mixture of the nostalgic past and the modern of today. Le Cidre has an area of no less than 135m2 and features a spacious conservatory with sliding glass doors. Le Cidre has a spacious living room with an authentic fireplace with wood-burning stove and a well-equipped kitchen with pantry. Nespresso machine and milk frother available. If required, we can also provide a regular coffee machine.
Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms. The Master Bedroom has a double bed of 2x 100x200 and a spacious wardrobe and clothes rack. One bedroom has two single beds of 90x200 and one with bathtub and sink and wardrobe. There is also a spacious bathroom with rain shower and a separate toilet.
Le Cidre has a spacious and furnished terrace with Weber BBQ.
Heated swimming pool (shared with the other gîte) with spacious sun terrace. Sun beds, parasols and lounge set.

With us, you will find the natural tranquillity of the countryside and also be in the immediate vicinity of the lively town of 'Vire de Normandie'.
The 18-hole golf course 'Golf de Vire' is only 4 km away from our domain. From the domain there are several hiking trails that reflect the natural beauty of the area. The town of Vire is 7 km away and offers several supermarkets, bakeries, cafés and restaurants.
Our holiday home is the ideal base to discover the many sights and activities in the Calvados and La Manche region. From here, you can easily visit the impressive Mont Saint Michel, explore the historic D-Day beaches, explore the bustling city of Caen and admire the famous Bayeux tapestry. You can also enjoy beautiful nature, picturesque villages and delicious local cuisine. Whether you love history, culture, nature or gastronomy, there is something for everyone near our gîte.

Een heerlijke plek om 100% tot rust te komen. De gite heeft alle comfort en luxe die je kan wensen: een goed uitgeruste keuken, veel ruimte en licht en heerlijke bedden. De verse groentjes en eitjes van uit de moestuin van Eva en Wilbert waren de kers op de taart. Een grote aanrader als je van rust en natuur houdt!

Wij hebben al op veel mooie plekken gezeten in Frankrijk, maar dit sloeg alles. Wat een pareltje: een heel mooi huis in een prachtig weids landschap. Wil je tot rust komen dan moet je hier naar toe gaan. Het huis ligt op een groot domein met aan alle kanten een schitterend uitzicht. Het huis heeft een grote serre. Het werd onze lievelingsplek omdat we ook hier aan allé kanten van het uitzicht konden genieten.
Wilbert en Eva zijn attente en behulpzame mensen. Je proeft hun liefde voor het domein en het plezier om het hun gasten naar de zin te maken. Eva bakt heerlijk brood en de eieren van de kippen zijn erg lekker.
De dichtstbijzijnde stad Vire ligt 7 km verder. Aardige plaats en in de nabijheid alle grote supermarkten .De invasie stranden liggen op 1,5 uur rijden. Makkelijke wegen door het mooie Normandië . Normandië is al prachtig met authentieke (vissers) dorpjes, mooie natuur, cultuur en historie, maar hiervan kunnen genieten terwijl je in een ruim, comfortabel huis verblijft, is een cadeau. Daarnaast zijn Eva en Wilbert uitermate gastvrij. Wij hebben een fantastische week gehad! Aanrader deze stek!

Calvados is known for its gourmet cuisine and its delicious local products,
Famous for its cheeses, such as camembert, apples and cream are also typical of the region, but there is more! Normandy is the first French region for the scallop. Oysters are also cultivated (Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Veules, etc.) and mussels.
Other typical Normandy specialities are salted lamb, the andouille from Vire, tripes (tripe) from Caen, the boudin noir (blood sausage) from Mortagne, or the teurgoule (a kind of sweet rice porridge with cinnamon) and the delicious caramel sweets 'caramel d'Isigny'.
All this tastes extra good with a glass of cider, poiré, pommeau or a delicious Calvados. Normandy has a remarkable gastronomic heritage and products labelled AOP and AOC,
We will be happy to help you find gems of restaurants in the surrounding area. There is also a Cider Route: a signposted tourist tour in the Normandy Pays d'Auge east of Caen. You will recognise about 20 cider producers by the 'Cru de Cambremer' signs along the Cider Route.
Our estate also offers not only a relaxing place to stay, but also a special experience that stimulates your senses.
Amid the rolling countryside you will find our large kitchen garden, a true paradise full of seasonal vegetables and colourful picking flowers. Here you can pick by hand what nature has to offer, straight from the ground. In addition, our chickens scratch around happily, producing a unique collection of beautiful coloured eggs every day. All these fresh products are on sale with us, so you can taste the flavour of the land.
And there is more to look forward to. Starting next year (2025), we invite you to join us at our tables d'hôtes, where we will spoil you with dishes that bring together the rich flavours of the region and our garden. Each dish is an ode to the season, prepared with love and the purity of local ingredients.
Our craft does not stop at the garden. We proudly bake our own sourdough bread, which you can get to order. The smell of freshly baked bread fills the air, and soon you will be able to learn the art of bread baking yourself at our workshops. Learn how to make the perfect bread with your own hands, and take home a piece of this special experience.

Activities
With a rich history full of memories and nostalgia, Normandy has a whole range of special features to offer. This piece of paradise has something for everyone, a place to dream away, relax or get active.
The region offers everything from hiking to bungee jumping, leisurely strolls through markets, a day at the beach or visits to historical sites. Families, active holidaymakers and those looking for peace and quiet can all find something to their liking here.
In addition, the Calvados is inextricably linked to the Battle of Normandy, much of which can be found in the various museums and towns.
Famous landing beaches include Utah, Omaha, Juno, Gold and Sword Beach. The battle fought here still marks the landscape.
Just a 5-minute drive away, 3 km from our cottage, the large lake 'Lac de la Dathée' lies amidst beautiful hills. Golf lovers will also find here the challenging 18-hole course of Golf Club 'Golf de Vire'.
