Our visit to Nuthatch was beautiful. Ideally situated in the middle of the french countryside, no traffic or light pollution. The owners, Glynis and Charlie, live next door and are always available to help you, if you need them with local knowledge of events and locations. The Gite was perfectly equipped with everything you need and the courtyard garden was lovely. Perfect for my Wife and I to sit in the evening and have a recap of the days adventures.

It was lovely to meet you both, thank you for the lovely review. Everyone always mentions about the lovely quiet spot we live in, it's just perfect for star gazing.
It would be lovely to see you both again when you next visit Normandy. Till then take care.
    Warmest regards.

Restaurants, food & wine

If you adore French cuisine, then you will love Normandy for it`s gastronomy. Various cheeses from Camembert to Livarot, charcuterie, cider and Calvados brandy. In the nearby tourist town of Villedieu-Les Poeles there boasts plenty of restaurants offering typical French cuisine to pizzas and creperies. Vire also has many restaurants, bars, and cafes. At lunchtime
many of the restaurants offer a 3 course meal for around 14 Euros.

Activities

There are many things to do in the surrounding area. You can take full advantage of nature by taking the hiking or mountain biking trails in St. Sever forest. You can also go horse riding . There is also an 18 hole golf course at Lake Dathee [22 min drive away] which also boasts a 43-hectare lake, a 10-hectare ornithological reserve managed by the Groupe Ornithologique Normand (Normandy Ornithological group) where 86 different bird species (ducks, coots, grebes, snipes…) have been observed. Also from March to November, there is windsurfing, catamaran, rowing, kayaking, pedal boats, and paddleboarding on the lake.
A 50-minute drive away is the abbey of Le Mont St Michel which Benedictine monks started building in the 10th-century and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Further up the Normandy coast is the town of Granville which offers an independent casino, four museums, an aquarium, a rich architectural and environmental heritage, four beaches, and four Wi-Fi access points. Several cruises start at the port of Granville, with destinations including Chausey, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly, and Ireland. Other important nearby attractions include the D-Day Landing beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold, Sword, and Juno where on 6 June 1944 the largest and most complex combined airborne and amphibious military operation of all time took place.
The town of Bayeux on the Aure river is 10 kilometers from the Channel coast. Its medieval center contains cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and the towering, Norman-Gothic Notre-Dame Cathedral. The famous 68-metre Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century tapestry depicting the 1066 Norman invasion of England, is on display in an 18th-century seminary.
