The house
Formerly a stable this small Barn has been beautifully restored to a very high standard and retains original features, beams throughout and a bespoke staircase. It offers comfortable living accommodation for a couple and is tastefully decorated. It has a cosy living room with beams and a chimney with imitation wood-burner stove, original manger and racking, ideal for curling up on the leather sofa with a glass of wine. For chefs, we have fully fitted, well equipped oak kitchen with washing machine and dining area. Hand built stairs to mezzanine area with separate double bedroom with lovely beams and beamed shower room with wc and basin.

Situated on the edge of our small village along a quite country lane you can enjoy peace and quiet on the private terrace in front of the Barn. Visit the wide sandy beaches of the coast, the more adventurous can try sand-yachting or explore the lovely villages and towns along this unspoilt area of France and enjoy the traditional weekly markets or seasonal Sunday brocantes. Ideal for cycling or walking along the quiet country lanes or enjoy one of the many Rambling pathways in the area.. Visit St Omer with its lovely squares or play the challenging 18 hole golf course just 20 minutes away at Lumbres, one of the best in France. Not to be missed is the walled city of Montreuil sur Mer with its gastronomic restaurants and panoramic views from the ramparts or head for the sandy beaches on the Cote d’Opale. The Somme region is not far away and history lovers will enjoy Arras with its WW1 memories, cobbled squares and museums, visit Albert and Peronne with their superb museums. Chocolate lovers will be tempted by a visit to the Belgian city of Brugges with its canals and pretty shops, just over 90 minutes away by motorway. Whether you want sophisticated resorts like Le Touquet with designer shopping, restaurants, beaches and casino, or more unspoilt coastal treasures with sleepy seaside resorts, there is a beach to please everyone.

Ondanks het slechte weer hebben we een heerlijke vakantieweek gehad in Rose Cottage. Het huisje is precies goed voor 2 personen en een hond. De eigenaren zijn betrokken en staan klaar met tips en goede adviezen en Sarah raadde ons een populair visrestaurant (le Chatillon) aan in Boulogne sur Mer.
Ook waren we erg gecharmeerd van Le Cocquempot in Montreuil wat een bijzonder sfeervol stadje is op amper 30 minuten rijden van de cottage.
De omgeving is verrassend mooi met een groen heuvellandschap met super mooie vergezichten in een rustige stukje van Frankrijk. Kleine dorpjes waar je nog een bakkertje treft en waar je lekker stokbrood en croissants kunt kopen. Handig voor de volgende dag want de dichtbij zijnde supermarkt ligt op ca 7 km.

Een prachtig huis in een, niet verwachtte, heuvelachtige prachtige omgeving! Hele groene omgeving en met de stranden dichtbij.
Een fantastische ontvangst en super lieve aandacht van onze gastheer en gastvrouw, David en Sarah.
Wat hebben zij een werk verricht om zo’n prachtig huis van een oude schuur te maken. Lekker ruim huis met alles wat je nodig hebt. Maar ook zeker geen overbodige spullen. Sfeervol ingericht!
Heerlijk afgesloten tuin zodat onze twee hondjes vrij rond konden lopen.
We hadden helaas de pech dat het weer koud en regenachtig was. Maar ons zeker vermaakt in de omgeving.
Mocht je willen fietsen dan kun je fantastisch fietsen over de aangelegde fietspaden aan de kust.Comment from Sarah Bing

This is an idyllic, original French farmhouse situated in a peaceful village, renovated to a very high standard, whilst retaining many of its quaint features. It is fully equipped beyond normal expectations, very clean, comfortable beds and there are clear instructions for everything as well as helpful information of the region. The outside garden is spacious, with sun loungers, table and chairs and a large grassed area for children to play. The separate barn games room is an added bonus. The owners are a delightful and approachable couple dedicated to making sure you enjoy your stay. We will most definitely be returning with our family.
Restaurants, food & wine
We live onsite so can advise on our favourite restaurants to visit and can make reservations for you. Closest restaurant is 7km away, or travel further afield to Montreuil sur Mer for gourmet dining, or visit our favourite seafood restaurant at Boulogne sur Mer.
Guests can also use our unique BBQ hut during their stay.
Activities
During your stay, if you wish, we invite you to join us in our fabulous BBQ hut in our garden, bring something to cook and enjoy our hospitality.
I am a qualified masseuse and can offer our female guests a relaxing full body massage to destress. Treatments include a destressing/relaxing massage or maybe try a unique Tibetan massage with the wonderful tones of the traditional Tibetan Singing Bowls or even a Japanese Kobido massage (Japanese Facial Massage). For men, I can offer relaxing Head, Neck, Shoulder and Back massage to relax those muscles
As a keen knitter I can teach you the basics of knitting, we can do a workshop together and you can come away with a little souvenir

Further remarks
The Barn is in the courtyard of our old farmhouse and you have a private parking space. There is one other small holiday cottage on site and together you share the small splash pool..
Please note that for 2023 due to ongoing Covid we are leaving a longer gap between bookings giving us ample time to fully prepare the cottage for your arrival. This includes deep cleaning the property, changing all the bedding (including mattress protectors) on all beds. Please note that arrival time is 5pm and departing before 9.30am on departure day so we can implement these procedures, unless otherwise arranged with us. We hope that you understand our commitment to providing you with a completely sanitised property.
Additional price info and offers
All electricity, gas and water is included in the rental from May until the end of September, a small charge of 25 euros per week from October to end April for the heating is appreciated in low season. Local Tourist tax payable in EUROS on arrival is due at 80ct per adult per night
