Approximately 14 kilometres from the charming French town of Neufchateau, where you will find all amenities, the farmhouse is located at the edge of a charming hamlet (hameau) with 32 permanent residents. The hamlet and the house are situated in a beautiful walking and cycling area between farmlands and vast forests. You therefore have plenty of recreational opportunities. Also, almost every Saturday or Sunday there is a cosy French flea market somewhere in the neighbourhood in one of those charming villages.
Beautiful cities such as Nancy, Metz. Langres and the spa resorts of Vittel and Contrèxeville are within reach for day trips. Here you can shop and enjoy old houses and squares like the famous Place Stanislas in Nancy. Within walking distance (approx. 25 minutes) you will find the birth village with "la maison natale" (birth house) of Joan of Arc, Domremy and the much visited basilica / cathedral.

Metz, France's second city of light
The capital Metz is called the second light city of France. That sounds promising. Metz lives up to this promise. The city was once awarded the title of Europe's flower city. Metz has an impressive history and architecture to offer. One of the highlights is the impressive Gothic cathedral with its many colourful stained-glass windows, among others by Chagall.

Nancy, famous for Stanislas
Nancy, the other large city in the region, is also a historical culture carrier. The city is sometimes called the birthplace of European Art Nouveau. Stanislas enriched the city with magnificent architecture that is on the Unesco world heritage list. Nancy offers numerous sights, including, of course, the famous Place Stanislas.

Relaxation and culinary enjoyment in the French countryside.

If you spend a few days in France and visit the border area of the departments Vosges, Meuse, Haute Marne and Aube, you will be surprised to find such an attractive and peaceful region so close by. An authentic French region that is definitely worth discovering...

This area is located just above the Bourgogne and can be reached from Amsterdam in about six hours. Under normal circumstances, the summers are dry and pretty warm: a real country climate. The area is characterised by many small, authentic villages with a sloping to hilly landscape in between. In the lowlands, you will find meadows through which small rivers meander, usually in the direction of the upper course of the Meuse. The meadows are adorned by numerous whimsically shaped, beautiful trees. A little higher, you will find fields of grain, sunflowers and maize and, on top of the hills, vast forests and woods with mainly deciduous trees. In the forests lives plenty of wildlife such as deer (cerfs), boars, badgers, roe deer, foxes, weasels and so on. In short, in this beautiful southern part of the Lorraine, where culture, culinary and campaigning life go hand in hand, it is lovely to stay and relax. Moreover, you can enjoy plenty of culinary delights in one of the many atmospheric restaurants that you will come across in the villages and towns along the Meuse.

Plenty of peace and quiet, walking, cycling and canoeing!

In this walking and cycling area par excellence, you can wander undisturbed for hours along quiet villages and the many paths that meander through it. Even the famous grande randonee will lead you from auberge to auberge. The village has only 36 permanent residents, is situated on a southern slope and is hidden in the middle of farmlands (oats, barley, sunflower fields) and extensive forests. In fact, more than half of the Vosges is covered by forests. Moreover, there are not only lakes in abundance, but also some famous mountain peaks: the Ballon d' Alsace (1250) and the Grand Ballon de Guebwiller (1424 m). And finally, for the real gourmand: visit this region also in the autumn and enjoy the delicious mushroom dishes!

The farmhouse has a large private garden. From this large garden you have a beautiful view and enjoy an unprecedented silence. The living room with separate television corner has French doors to a terrace garden facing south.
